Roswell walked into Friday night knowing it was a showdown between two of New Mexico’s hottest teams — and walked out with a 49–14 statement win that wasn’t even close. The Coyotes controlled every phase, stretched the field, and slammed the door early, extending their winning streak to five straight.
Coach Lynn’s postgame comments carried the tone of a team that not only answered its critics, but set the record straight in emphatic fashion.
Reflecting on the defensive performance, Lynn said his players came in with a chip on their shoulder. “Our kids defensively were tired of all the naysayers and people talking about us,” he said. “I think they really had a great week of preparation. Our defense really had something to prove tonight.”
He noted that the offensive unit did exactly what the staff expected. “We knew our offense was explosive and they were going to play well,” Lynn added.
Special teams were another area where Roswell felt confident, but the defense stole the show. “We knew we had an advantage in special teams, but the way that defense played was lights out.”
Lynn also emphasized how important the timing of the win was heading into the break. “It feels good. You go into the bye week with a win and it leaves a good taste in your mouth. You don’t wanna have that negative vibe for two weeks.”
For Roswell, the message was clear: they heard the noise, they responded, and they head into the bye week with momentum firmly on their side.
Coach Lynn also highlighted several standout individual efforts that helped shape the win. He said he was especially pleased with the performances of Daniel Guevara and Zeke Barrientos, noting their consistency and impact throughout the night.
Defensively, Lynn pointed to two major momentum‑shifting plays. He praised Kasyn and Matt for their interceptions, calling both turnovers “huge moments” that energized the sideline and reinforced the defense’s statement performance.
Special teams also delivered one of the night’s biggest highlights. Lynn made sure to recognize Debrise Ashung, who ripped off a 97‑yard kickoff return touchdown, a play that electrified the crowd and swung momentum firmly in Roswell's favor.
