ROSWELL, THIS FAIR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR 104 YEARS. ๐ก
The Eastern New Mexico State Fair is the oldest fair in the state, and it grew out of the Chaves County Cotton Carnival held here in 1922. Fair week at 2055 SE Main St. is the latest chapter in a tradition that has been showing up for this town for more than a century. โ
What it became:
๐ช All 33 of New Mexico's counties represented
๐ The largest junior livestock show in the state
๐ About 55,000 patrons through the gates every year
๐พ Vendors who have been setting up alongside the midway for 20+ years
๐๏ธ Free admission and parking for military personnel
โฟ Special Needs Day, Children's Day and Senior Day built into the week
And today? It's Seniors Day: 55+ get in FREE, plus Dollar Night with rides at $2 each. Gates 4โ11 PM. Parade trophies are handed out at 6:30 PM. ๐ต
If you've got an old fair photo or a Cotton Carnival story in the family, drop it in the comments ๐ and SHARE this with someone who never misses fair week!
