Well, apparently Beth has a new bestie.

While getting ready for Sunday’s show, Beth and Jim Murray started chatting — and that was pretty much it. Instant pals, instant trouble. Two peas in a pod. Like they’d known each other for years.

Turns out Jim isn’t just a longtime drummer, vocalist and Chicago-area music veteran. He’s also one hell of a charmer, a great storyteller and apparently exactly Beth’s kind of people.

So now the question isn’t whether Jim will fit in on The Bus Stop Blues. It’s whether Kevin Purcell and Road Bill will be able to get a word in.

He’s spent a whole lot of years behind the drums. This Sunday, we’re putting him in front of the microphone. Jim Murray is climbing aboard The Bus Stop Blues!

Drummer. Vocalist. Chicago-area music veteran. A résumé that includes Skip Towne and the Greyhounds, The Drunk Whisperers, RPM, Nightflight, Soul Shakedown and plenty more miles along the way. We’ve already played Jim’s music on the show. Now we want the stories behind it.

Kevin Purcell and Road Bill have the questions. Whether Jim gets a chance to answer them before these two wander completely off topic remains to be seen.

Now it’s time to meet the man behind the music. Coming up on The Bus Stop Blues — longtime Chicago musician JIM MURRAY joins Kevin Purcell and Road Bill!

Jim has spent years behind the kit and behind the mic, with a musical résumé that includes Skip Towne and the Greyhounds, The Drunk Whisperers, RPM, Nightflight, Soul Shakedown and more.

And if the name sounds familiar, it should. We recently spun Jim’s “Whiskey in the Jar” on the Music Show. This time, he’s getting on the Big Bus himself. Stories. Music. Chicago history. And with this crew, probably a few detours along the way!
