Taylor just landed another major win.

A key Samsung supplier has received an $11.6 million State of Texas grant to support its new $575 million manufacturing facility in Taylor.

Soulbrain’s first U.S. headquarters and production facility will help supply critical materials used in semiconductor manufacturing, bringing new investment, high-skilled jobs, and internship opportunities to the region.

This is exactly how semiconductor hubs are built — one supplier, one investment, and one major project at a time.

BIG NEWS for future pilots in Central Texas!

Texas State University is launching helicopter flight training for the first time through a new partnership with Veracity Aviation in Seguin.

Beginning in Fall 2026, Aviation Science students will have the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree while receiving professional rotor-wing flight training.

Why does this matter?

The aviation industry is facing a growing pilot shortage, and demand for helicopter pilots is expected to rise significantly in the years ahead.

Graduates could pursue careers in:

🚁 Emergency Medical Services
🚁 Law Enforcement Aviation
🚁 Offshore Energy Operations
🚁 Agriculture & Aerial Services
🚁 Corporate Aviation
🚁 Utility & Infrastructure Support

University leaders say the program creates a direct pathway from higher education into specialized aviation careers while helping build the workforce needed to support critical industries across Texas and beyond.

Would you consider a career as a helicopter pilot?

Long before Round Rock became a technology hub, a retail destination, or one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, it was a cattle town connected to one of the greatest economic migrations in American history.

For more than a decade, massive herds of Texas longhorns moved through Williamson County on their way north to Kansas railheads, helping fuel an industry that transformed Texas and the American West.

The next time you drive through Round Rock, remember that thousands of cattle once crossed Brushy Creek and passed through the heart of town on their journey north.

This is the story of the Chisholm Trail and Williamson County’s role in one of the most remarkable chapters of Texas history.

HOUSING MARKET UPDATE: Is Central Texas making a comeback?

The latest housing data suggests buyers may be returning to the market across the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos region.

According to Unlock MLS:

📈 Home sales increased 2% year-over-year in April, reaching nearly 2,650 homes sold.

📈 Pending home sales jumped more than 15%, a sign that even more buyers may be entering the market in the months ahead.

🏠 Homes are now selling for about 94.8% of their original list price, showing improving buyer confidence.

💰 The median home price fell to $440,000, down nearly 2% from a year ago.

So what does this mean for Williamson County?

Communities like Georgetown, Round Rock, Hutto, Leander, Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, Taylor, and Jarrell continue to see strong population growth, new development projects, and job creation. Lower home prices combined with increased inventory may be creating opportunities for buyers who have been waiting on the sidelines.

The big question…

🤔 Is the housing market finally turning the corner?

OR

🤔 Are buyers still waiting for lower interest rates before making a move?

BIG NEWS for Georgetown residents…

Your utility bill is going up.

Starting October 1, Georgetown will increase water, wastewater, and stormwater rates as the city works to keep pace with rapid growth, infrastructure needs, and environmental regulations.

Here’s what you need to know:
🔹 Water usage rates increase 14%
🔹 Water base charges increase 4%
🔹 Stormwater fees rise from $6.50 to $8.50 per month
🔹 Wastewater rates are projected to increase about 12% annually through 2031

City officials estimate the average household using 6,000 gallons per month will see monthly utility costs increase from about $127 to nearly $140.

Leaders say the increases are needed to fund infrastructure improvements, system expansion, staffing, environmental compliance, and more than $1.7 billion in future capital projects.

What do you think?

Are these rate increases necessary to support Georgetown’s growth, or are residents already paying enough?
