Big Boy 4014 rolled through our town
So thankful for the chance to witness this amazing engine in person, as it made its way toward Philadelphia and as it began the long journey home.
Today’s unexpected stop on Main St., Royersford for a crew change, offered all of us a longer look and time to savor the beauty, the mystic, and the power of the beautiful and massive engine. The stop also made the ride out a little slower, giving us a chance to really appreciate the beautiful and unique cars, including the iconic Pullman.
And to see how strong that engine really is!
During the stop there was even time for some to have a conversation with the crew while others were treated to a commemorative bandana (a crew member handed them out to some of the younger people patiently waiting to witness history).
We’re so fortunate to have the amazing rails right here in town and to see first hand all the system means to our community and surrounding areas. And to then have access to this historic ride.
This meant so much — not only for the historic significance but because this amazing engine, the people who brought it back to life, the people who dedicated time to bring it across our country to commemorate our independence, also brought people together everywhere the train went and everywhere its celebrated.
Thank you Ed Dickens, Union Pacific and all who contributed to this amazing train.
