We stayed at Schaffer Farm, a Harvest Hosts location, on our way home from Albuquerque. The property features remnants of Jericho, a stagecoach and railroad stop from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. A dirt road that crosses the property is part of the original Route 66.

The owners of Schaffer Farm discovered a cracked safe in a field on the property. This area is not far from Wellington, TX, where Bonnie and Clyde crashed their stolen car, causing battery acid to drench Bonnie's leg. Could they have hidden on the Schaffer property before heading to Wellington?
