This is something that is not talked about enough!
Loving my child has never been the hard part.
The hard part is grieving the life I thought he would have, while he’s still right here in front of me.
No one prepares you for that kind of grief.
The complicated kind.
The kind that shows up in the middle of celebrations. in doctor’s offices, as you drive past schools seeing other kids hop off the school bus.
I grieve the “what ifs.”
The things I once took for granted.
The version of motherhood I thought I understood.
And then I feel guilty for it.
Because how can you love your child this deeply , and still feel this ache at the same time?
But both can exist.
The overwhelming love.
And the quiet grief.
If you’re a parent feeling this too, I need you to know,
you’re not broken for feeling it.
You’re human.
And you’re not alone.
