🇺🇸 In honor of July 4th, let’s share our appreciation for Ryemarkable Mom Noreen Kennedy, whose daughter Molly is attending West Point Military Academy!
🇺🇸Where will Molly be attending, and how did she choose this path?
Molly will be attending West Point Military Academy. She begins on June 30, 2025 to begin her 6 week basic training that West Point calls “The Beast.” Her interest in West Point began the summer of her rising sophomore year when the Women’s Rugby coach showed interest in recruiting her. In addition to West Point, there were multiple D1 schools interested in her including a few ivy league schools. Ultimately, Molly’s desire to study Engineering narrowed her focus on a few schools and West Point proved to be the best fit.
🇺🇸How does it feel knowing Molly is about to embark on this journey?
My husband and I are incredibly proud and nervous at the same time. She will not live the typical college experience but, in the long run, this will open up countless opportunities for her in the future. In our hearts, we know that the West Point culture fits our daughter perfectly.
🇺🇸What has been the most challenging part of preparing for her departure?
The most challenging part of preparing for her departure is simply the unknown. I have joined a West Point Moms group on Facebook to try and learn as much as possible about what Molly should expect, particularly during those first few weeks of training. There is only so much I can learn and now we just have to give her a giant hug and say goodbye to her on June 30th.
🇺🇸Any advice for others considering a similar path?
Never think that an establishment such as West Point is out of reach. We never even thought of West Point until the coach and the admissions team reminded us of how Molly’s pure grit and determination is what the school wanted and was the deciding factor of getting her acceptance letter. Whether it is to play a varsity sport at West Point or attend your dream school, never give up.
