Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is doing the best that they can with the unexpected hand they were given at the very last-minute. The grandstands may not be open today, but the pit area will be.

The cost may be more, but the support from race fans and drivers is what is going to help keep the track open during this time of crisis. This is also the perfect opportunity for fans or friends to assist a crew and learn a little bit about the behind-the-scenes action that happens on race day.

I always say “get out there and support your local short track” at the end of almost every race recap, and that reigns more true than ever not only today, but all season.

I will try my best to provide updates, photos and videos for those that are unable to attend today due to circumstances.

We are all in this together and I still hope that after all is said and done, you make the decision to still support your local race track if you’re able to.

Racing action starts at 4:00 pm, starting with the Thursday night divisions.

Plus, the #23ss machine is making its 2020 race season debut, which is an added bonus. 2020 is the season that marks the 20 year anniversary season of Sanborn Racing Enterprises.

Grab your waters, grab your lawn chair and your sunscreen and make the trip to Scarborough tonight for PLENTY of racing action! You won’t be disappointed if you do! 🏁

Beech Ridge launches it’s seven-race schedule beginning tomorrow, Saturday, July 18th.

The Ridge is pleased to have gotten an on-site meeting with one of Maine’s top office commissioners to review grandstand protocols. While positive, cooperative and supportive, the State is not yet able to reach an updated decision regarding seating of more than 50 people. At least currently, Beech Ridge will not open its grandstand to spectators while State conversations continue to evolve. We are pleased to have advanced the State’s consideration dramatically, for the sake of all Maine speedways. We will continue to work positively toward that end.

The seven race dates are July 18, July 25, August 8, August 15 with the rescheduled Granite State Tour, August 22, September 5 and September 12.

Both series and all events will welcome any and all regionwide teams and operate in traditional open-competition format, finding a place and weight format for any team. Pro Series teams will be allowed four new tires at every race, Sport Series and Wildcat teams will open with four tires and then be allowed two new tires each race.

Meanwhile, the pit area opens early beginning at 11 this Saturday morning to accommodate tire selections. Thursday teams will practice at 1pm, Saturday teams at 2:30.

The Thursday series racing is projected to begin at 4 p.m. Whiz Kidz will follow the completion of that portion, followed by the Saturday series racing, projected to begin between 5:30 and 6:15.

The Saturday series program includes 50-lap Wildcat and Sport Series features and 75 full laps for the Pro Series.

A point system will not be in place for either the Thursday or Saturday series. All teams in both series will draw for starting positions every week.

The pit ticket price will be standardized for all at a flat $30 to include the entire event (excepting a moderate increase for the Granite State Tour date). There will be no licensing fees.

We are excited to announce that we are returning to racing this year, starting this Saturday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway! We will be running the #56 Super Late Model in the Pro Series division once again for their seven race series.

I am equally excited to announce that we will be back with support from our great partners at Hancock Lumber. They have supported my team and I since we were racing go karts, and we cannot thank them enough for their continued support. Everyone should know this by now, but Hancock Lumber Company is a sixth-generation, family-owned business operating a land company, a sawmill division, and a network of retail lumberyards, home design showrooms, and a truss manufacturing facility. Led by their 530 employees, Hancock has five times been selected as a ‘Best Place to Work in Maine and was recognized as the 2017 national ProSales ‘Dealer of the Year’.

When you are deciding on which companies to work with, please consider the companies that support short track racing! Hancock Lumber has been a big supporter of many teams for a long time in this sport. Even through this tough time they are still on board with our team. They and a lot of other great companies you will see on the cars this weekend are what help keeps this sport going!

We are still searching for more partners to join us this season. We want to run more races and compete at the highest level. If you know of a company, please let us know to reach out to them.

I’m excited, lets go racing. 🏁

Maine Vintage Race Car Association

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Summerfest Postponed to 2021

Due to COVID 19, The Maine Vintage Race Car Association has announced a postponement of the annual 'Summerfest' scheduled for August 2nd at Wiscasset Speedway. The decision, voted by officers and board of directors leaves the club without their largest one day fundraising event for the year.

MVRCA, who's mission is to honor and preserve the history of racing in Maine, traditionally held the event on the first Sunday of August. In addition to fundraising, the event serves as the largest membership drive of the year.

MVRCA President Andy Austin: "We held out as long as we could, and wanted to believe there would be a safe way to hold Summerfest. However, after researching many alternatives, the club made this a unanimous decision. Like many museums, our mobile unit has closed. The popular ride-along program would be next to impossible, and our annual cookout would have to be overhauled. This is a moment in time, and the more we work together, the sooner we can emerge successfully."

Maine Vintage Race Car Association is already getting a leg up on 2021. In cooperation with Wiscasset Speedway, a new Summerfest date has been tentatively scheduled for August 1st, 2021. In addition, the Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame Ceremony will combine 2020 and 2021 classes into one ceremony April 18th, 2021.

So excited to return to racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway! This season will be a lot different, but it will be fun! Can’t wait for the season opener! 🏁

Beech Ridge will launch a seven-race schedule beginning Saturday, July 18th. A day of practice for all Thursday and Saturday teams will take place the week before, July 11th.

All seven races will be held on Saturdays, combining a Thunder race schedule in the late afternoon followed by a full Saturday teams schedule. Grandstand seating will be open to all and will meet any existing state mandate capacity limits.

The seven dates are July 18, July 25, August 8, August 15 with the rescheduled Granite State Tour, August 22, September 5 and September 12.

Both series and all events will welcome any and all regionwide teams and operate in traditional open-competition format, finding a place and weight format for any team. Pro Series teams will be allowed four new tires at every race, Sport Series and Wildcat teams will open with four tires and then be allowed two new tires each race.

The July 18 opening event will feature triple 50 lap main events for the Saturday series divisions. Full practice and race hours and schedules will be released prior to the opening event.

A point system will not be in place for either the Thursday or Saturday series. All teams in both series will draw for starting positions every week.

The pit ticket price will be standardized for all at a flat $30 to include the entire event (excepting a moderate increase for the Granite State Tour date). There will be no licensing fees. Grandstand tickets will also hold steady at $12 for the entire program, kids 12 and under still admitted free for family value ticketing.
