Nights like tonight remind us just how dangerous the sport that we all love can be, but also how far safety advancements have come in racing and how important having proper safety equipment truly is.

My thoughts and prayers are with Reed, Nick, Liz and the entire Reno's Racing camp after Reed’s extremely tough hit tonight at Wiscasset Speedway.

Although it was terrifying to witness, I was glad to see Reed awake and alert following the impact and know that he’ll be back in due time. 💙🏁

As summer winds down, that can only mean one thing: it’s time for some of the biggest races of the year!

While other local tracks hosted their marquee races this past weekend, Wiscasset Speedway kept things trekking on by hosting their final Group #1 program before the coveted Boss Hogg 150.

Some highlights from the night…

- Division rookie starts out the night with another win in the 4-Cylinder Pros and finishes the night with another podium.
- Racing veteran wins his 3rd race of the year in the 207 Crate Modifieds.
- Heavy hitter charges his way to another victory in the Pro Stocks along with the points lead.
- Multi-time champion scores his 6th win of the season in the Thunder 4 Minis — the most of any driver at the track this season.
- Driver gains an impressive 10 positions over the course of 30 laps to win the Super Street feature.
- Young driver ends his night by picking up another win in the 4-Cylinder Pros.
- 100-lap Enduro closes out the night with a tight-knit battle for the top spot.

For just $5, you’ll have TEN+ chances to win an awesome prize and give back to not one, but TWO, amazing organizations.

Let’s sell this waffle out! 🏁

— RACING THEMED GIFT BASKET WAFFLE —

This year, I will be participating in the Dempsey Challenge 5k walk on Saturday, September 20th and although I won’t be able to physically participate in the Racin’ Cancer walk at Wiscasset Speedway LLC due to prior commitments, I will still be raising money for the Dean Snell Cancer Foundation.

With the help of many local businesses and friends, I have put together a Maine/Racing themed gift basket to waffle off.

Items include:
- Free oil change from VIP Tires & Service, courtesy of Bob Guptill.
- Mainely Karting prize pack, including race tickets.
- Wiscasset Speedway prize pack, including race tickets.
- $50 photo credit for Jasen Dickey Photography, good for digital and/or physical photos.
- $50 gift certificate to Little Billy Tees, courtesy of NE Marketing Design.
- $200 gift certificate good toward a helmet wrap by Night Owl Creations.
- $50 in gift cards to Sweetz & More.
- 4 mini golf tickets to The Desert of Maine.
- $50 in gift cards to Aroma Joe's Coffee.
- $20 in Amato's gift cards.
- & more to come!

Each prize will be waffled off individually, so you have 9+ chances to win with all prizes valued at $20 or more!

Waffle tickets are $5 a piece and 100 total will be sold, with ALL proceeds donated (50/50 split) toward both causes.

Once all tickets are sold and all $ is collected, prize winners be chosen on Facebook Live via the Chasing the Checkered page.

I do have a racers’ page set up for the Dempsey Challenge, but please send your waffle entry money to my PayPal ([email protected]) or Venmo () directly so I can effectively split the donations toward both causes!

Friday’s racing program at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park was a family affair for the Libby Racing team. 🏁

Libby Family Make Lasting Memories at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park

Todd Libby returned to Riverside Speedway on Friday night to give the #80 Late Model another go.

Although the team is admittedly still trying to find their “sweet spot” with the setup on the car, it’s nothing unexpected given that it’s Todd’s first full-time season in the division. The car fared okay in practice on Friday and the crew continued to make much-needed adjustments throughout the day that dialed it in a little bit more.

Todd finished fifth in the qualifier and maintained position on the lead lap for the entirety of the 50-lap feature, finishing 8th.

“We’re taking a little bit here and there and taking the time to really learn the car. It will take some time, but we will get there”, he shared following the race.

Friday night at the track became a family affair for Todd and his father Jeff, who decided to get back behind the wheel of a car following a near-18 year hiatus from racing. Jeff worked tirelessly to prepare Sara’s car during the off-season before learning she was expecting and decided that it was finally time to break the #80 Maddog out of the shop for some racing fun.

The car showed decent speed in first practice and Todd jumped behind the wheel in second practice, shaking the car down. The handling got better and better as the day went on, timing .2 seconds faster in the feature, where Jeff finished 6th.

It was a really special night for the Libby family as a whole as Todd’s son was also in attendance to see his Grandpa race. “It was super special and brought back some awesome memories, for sure. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to race on the same night as my Dad and can’t wait to make more memories like this in the future”, Todd shared.

He’ll be taking a few weeks off from competition before returning to the track on Friday, September 5th. The green flag flies at 7:00 pm!

Hard-fought race by Amara Parker Racing this past weekend at Wiscasset! 🏁

Amara Parker Clinches Top-10 Finish at Wiscasset Speedway LLC

Amara Parker and the Naughty 40 team returned to Wiscasset Speedway on Saturday for another round of battle in the highly competitive Strictly Street division.

The night kicked off with a driver meet & greet on the frontstretch and Amara really enjoyed and took advantage of the opportunity to mingle with both her fellow competitors and fans prior to the start of the racing action.

She held her own in the qualifying heat, finishing third and achieving her goal of making it to the tech shack - it’s not something that a lot of drivers look forward to but for Amara, it’s something that she’s grown proud of.

Amara pedaled down in the opening laps of the feature, climbing up to second. Just as things were looking up, she got turned around while battling in heavy traffic. She was a sitting duck from there and had nowhere to go, resulting in some damage to the rear end of the #3 machine.

Luckily, the damage wasn’t catastrophic and she was able to keep rolling until a right front tire went down, forcing her to pit under yellow. She maintained position on the lead lap and rejoined the tail end of the field in the closing laps of the race.

Amara survived the battle of attrition as the race was plagued with both yellow and red flags, clawing her way back through the field for a solid 9th place finish.

In her own words, “I’d really like to thank my crew and family for cheering me on and working so hard to get me back out there. I’ll keep fighting the good fight and I’m excited to give it another go in two weeks”.

Amara will return to competition on Sunday, August 31st - the day of the coveted Boss Hogg 150. The green flag flies at 2:00 pm!
