Slide 1 (Creative Writing Club):
“We hold biweekly workshops with guest speakers and provide publishing opportunities for student writers,” said Vaani Tiwari, president of the Creative Writing Club. “This year, we’re excited to launch our own literary magazine to showcase our work.”

Slide 2 (Fashion Club):
“The Fashion Club is all about self-expression. We go on thrift trips, host runway shows, and hold photoshoots where members can dress up, model, and have fun,” said Fareeha Mohammed, the club treasurer. “We even have a runway contest where the winner gets their own professional photoshoot!”

Slide 3 (Health and Wellness Club):
“The Health and Wellness Club focuses on exploring psychological and medical research, especially around mental health in teens,” said Charvi Cherukuri, who leads the club’s research and motivation efforts. “We review highly rated journal articles and practice coping mechanisms to help support our well-being.”

Slide 1 (Henna Heals Hearts): “Henna Heals Hearts has been a club I’ve been doing for three years, where, basically, I teach students how to do henna so that they can learn about the culture and also learn to apply it on other people,” said Mehreen Mohammed (left), a GBHS senior. The money raised goes toward children suffering from heart conditions.

Slide 2 (Women in STEM): “We want to inspire high school girls to pursue careers in STEM. And we have a bunch of speakers come in and talk about different STEM fields. Last year, we had a neuroscientist, a civil engineer, some people who work in the maternity ward, nurses” said Cameron Catanella, the senior in charge of the Women in STEM club.

Slide 3 (Key Club): “We do everything together. You also get to volunteer on your own time. We volunteer for pretty much any cause,” said Sidney Bennett, a sophomore on the Key Club board.

Slide 4 (Drama Club): “We do workshops to help improve people as actresses and actors, we do dance workshops and voice workshops. And then we also have some super fun socials to build our theater community, including laser tag and bowling, and things like that” said Reva Sikka (sitting left), a senior, advertising for the Drama Club. “Additionally, we do backstage things (like) costuming, makeup and lighting, set design, we do everything production,” said Reva Sikka, a senior, advertising for the Drama Club.

The Decades Dance kicks off the first dance of the school year. Each grade represents a different era: freshman dressed in the 50’s, sophomores in the 60’s, juniors in the 70’s and the seniors in the 80’s. Students dance to the beat of nostalgic music.

1. Sienna Rodriguez, Editor-in-Chief, explains the CTE Journalism program.
2. Isaiah Snyder: “We built a pitch deck for our app, Eco Clear—a social platform for landscaping. I’ve done door to door side hustles before in neighborhoods where I do pressure washing and landscaping. Instead of going door to door, it connects the consumer to the freelancers or service providers.”
3. Danica Wedum: “In Photo One, we do a lot of hands on work. We learn how to operate a camera, and then we learn how to do Photoshop and a little bit of graphic design. One of our most recent assignments was designing an album cover out of a picture we took.
4. Maverick Munoz “It’s a common problem Americans have. A good business idea is something that can help solve a problem for a lot of different people.”
5. Priscilla Sharifie: “What inspired me about the business pathway was the great community and skills I’ve learned. We recently used Microsoft tools and learned about the stock market.”
6. Kylie Grabisch: “We created Vitals, which is a all in one safety kit. And we took that, not only to the class, we took it to a pitch competition and ended up winning, which was a super cool opportunity.”
7. Rajvi Shah: “We created a system that eliminates checkout by using special tags and scanners on the exit so as you walk through, it brings up your total, and you can just pay using Apple Pay or whatever you like.”
8. Priscilla Sharifie handed out GBHS business pitch and investment tickets.
9. Kian Zahedani: “In engineering, we built chairs, which was really fun, like iron deck chairs. It was a good lesson because we would design it online and then built it.”
10. Julie Francesconi, Journalism advisor, shares newspapers and details the Journalism pathway to a parent and student.
11. Allison Kimoto and Sofiia Shpak share their award-recognized media films.
