One of the more challenging and rewarding projects we’ve had the chance to work on. We spent 5 days embedded with the California National Guard 95th Civil Support Team during BAYEX, one of the largest WMD training exercises in the country.

What made it so special was seeing a level of preparedness and coordination we didn’t realize existed. Led by the 95th; local fire, police, and first responder agencies get the opportunity to train and respond together as a single force for the unthinkable; from terrorist threats to chemical attacks. This is the type of training unavailable at the local level.

Since 1998, the National Guard has been providing highly realistic training to help local agencies coordinate and respond to large-scale CBRNE incidents. Witnessing their teamwork and skill firsthand was incredible; it gave us a whole new appreciation for the people who work every day to keep our communities safe.

Heart-felt, powerful day yesterday interviewing U.S. Marine Sergeant (Ret.) John Patricio, who served during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. After sustaining a service-connected disability and receiving an honorable discharge, John went on to build a successful business, grow his family, and start a movement to help veterans and other paraplegics "improvise, adapt, and overcome." Excited to share more in the months ahead.

Happy Independence Day! To celebrate we are sharing a history piece we recently produced about the 1781 Battle of Yorktown. The British defeat at Yorktown led to the Treaty of Paris in 1783, in which the British acknowledged the independence and sovereignty of the Thirteen Colonies and subsequently to the establishment of the United States as the first constitutional republic in world history founded on the consent of the governed and the rule of law. 🇺🇸

Last week, Dovos Media had the exciting privilege of documenting a five-day training exercise hosted by the Cal Guard’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team. This exercise brought together first responders, helping them prepare and coordinate for the most dangerous situations. In this reel, South County Fire responds to a simulated chemical lab, assessing and securing the scene during the exercise’s terrorist attack scenario.
