Malaquias Montoya Mural

in Davis, Calif., May 18, 2012.The UC Davis community will celebrate a new 24-foot-by-9-foot mural by UC Davis Professor Emeritus Malaquias Montoya as it dedicates its $22 million Student Community Center. The Practice of Freedom depicts the university experience through the metaphor of two hands. One hand welcomes a culturally rich and diverse student body, and the other sends into the world "students who are determined to make a difference, " as Montoya wrote in his narrative for the mural.
