A few content creators have inspired me to go ahead and start decorating now for Halloween. The earliest I’ve ever decorated for Fall & Halloween was September 1st. But I’ve been working on not postponing happiness and giving even fewer f***s so I’m proceeding with my autumnal nesting. 👻

P.S. - My husband didn’t know I was pondering decorating now and yet he got the memo and brought these two pillows home from Costco this week. 🕸️

Happy Solstice and Merry Yule! Tonight is the longest night of the year, tomorrow the light begins to slowly return. It’s a sacred time of reflection, to go inward while wintering, moving toward hope, renewal and rebirth Spring promises us.

Feeling this connection to the earth, sun, and each other I recommend lighting a candle, make a fire, snuggle with a loved one, take a walk in nature, share a meal, and relax. All of these things are hygge, cozy. Fill your home with warming scents. One way to do this is to make a simmer pot. Swipe to see ours. Sending you all love as we call the light back. 🕯️

Simmer Pot

Add orange peel, cinnamon sticks (2-3), cloves (8-12) to a small pot of water. Bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer. Monitor the water and refill as needed. Other items to add include cranberries, apple slices, small pine clippings, and herbs such rosemary or sage, or bay leaves (which words and intentions can be written on). 🍊
