Large coronal hole #48, now stretching across the southern hemisphere towards center disk, is beginning to face Earth. What is a coronal hole?

A coronal hole is an opening in the Sun's atmosphere associated with open magnetic field lines. High-speed solar winds originate from within these holes which appear as dark zones when viewed at different optical wavelengths. Coronal holes can occur at any time during a solar cycle, but are typically larger and more frequent towards solar maximum.

In 2020, a pilot surveying British Columbia’s **Kootenay Lake** spotted a **200-meter-wide geometric pattern** etched into the lakebed—a swirling design of trenches resembling Indigenous petroglyphs. Initial dives revealed the “glyph” is made of **aligned river stones**, but its age and purpose baffle experts:
- **Ancient Marker?** Local Ktunaxa oral history speaks of *water spirits* shaping the lake, but no tribal records match this design.
- **Glacial Quirk?** Ice Age retreats could have dragged stones into fractal patterns.
- **Modern Hoax?** Yet the stones show *centuries of silt*, suggesting pre-colonial origin.

Sonar scans hint at **more glyphs** nearby, submerged when dams raised the lake in the 1930s. Could this be North America’s **Nazca Lines of the North**?

Part of a giant, exquisitely carved marble sculpture depicting the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, have been found at Sagalassos, Turkey.
The emperor wore army boots decorated with lion skins. Marcus Aurelius reigned from 161 AD until his death in 180 AD.
The partial statue was unearthed in the largest room at Sagalassos's Roman baths.
The cross-shaped is covered in mosaics and was probably used as a frigidarium - a room with a cold pool which Romans could sink into after a hot bath.
The dig is part of wider excavations at the ruined city, which was once an important regional centre.
Sagalassos, City of Dreams, is one of the best-preserved ancient cities of Turkey and one of the best kept archaeological secrets of the Mediterranean.
It is located in southwest Turkey, more than one hundred kilometers north of the coastal city of Antalya, part of province Burdur.
