Wouldn't it be ironic if the flawed democracy that is the United States of America (not my assessment, it's number 30 on The Economist's world scale) turns out to be saved by Taylor Swift.

This can happen by her power to encourage young citizens to register to vote.

My take is that only by overwhelming numbers of new voters who are likely to NOT vote for the Orange Stain will he be kept out of the Office (which is a "Office" despite his protestations to the contrary) which he, Putin and accomplices determine he'll never give up.

... and still corporations & governments refuse to learn of the dangers of using a highly-vulnerable desktop/laptop operating system for mission-critical services. This will continue until or unless either Nadella completes the transition to a secure *nix kernel or IT managers bite the bullet and move to a secure platform. With IBM's recent acquisition of Red Hat, this may be an easier decision for the IT managers' job security.

Updated: DarkSide has claimed responsibility for the catastrophic ransomware outbreak.

NSW recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

There were two cases acquired overseas, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,912.

There were 10,504 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 11,897.

Testing numbers remain low, which is a concern given that high rates of testing are an important tool in tracking the spread of the virus. With restrictions having eased across Greater Sydney yesterday, it is crucial that people maintain their vigilance.

While NSW has now seen 13 days without a known locally acquired case of COVID-19, the virus may still be circulating in the community among people with mild or no symptoms. We have previously seen successive days of no local cases, only to see cases re-emerge.

NSW Health continues to urge people to come forward for testing if they have any symptoms that could signal COVID-19 – including a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, or fever – as this is the best way to detect and stop any possible spread of the virus.

Every person who comes forward for testing is playing an important role in helping to contain the spread of COVID-19.

NSW Health’s sewage surveillance program has recently detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 in the sewage network at Minto, Liverpool and Warriewood.

While these detections may reflect known recent confirmed cases in these areas, NSW Health urges everyone living or working in these areas to monitor for symptoms and get tested and isolate immediately if they appear.

There are more than 350 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/how-to-protect-yourself-and-others/clinics or contact your GP.

NSW Health is treating 57 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases (96 per cent) are being treated in non-acute, out-of-hospital care, including returned travellers in the Special Health Accommodation.

These volunteers with the NSW Rural Fire Service now have a critically important bulk water carrier thanks to generous donations made during the 2019-20 bush fire season 🙏👏

This time last year, and especially over Australia Day, Australians and our American friends came together in the spirit of Mateship to raise money for bush fire recovery.🤝

📸The crew pictured is with the Lake Albert Rural Fire Brigade. Ten local brigades in the NSW RFS - Riverina Zone of New South Wales pooled their allocated donations to purchase the prime mover and fit it out with safety gear like radios and smart devices.

The water carrier and the dedicated volunteers are a critical local resource, especially because there can be little naturally occurring water in some areas in times of drought.

The bulk water carrier provides a timely water supply to frontline appliances (it can fill up 6 fire tankers in one load) and provides help for remote structure fires.

We thank everyone in the US and around the world who donated in our nation’s time of need.

Accountability is not a distraction. It’s a necessity.

You threw away your career, your reputation, and your duty to this nation. Was it worth it, Josh?
