Saginaw Fireworks Show Attendees at the event are being asked to return to their vehicles due to the lightning threat. If you are planning to attend the event you are urged to wait until the weather clears before arriving. The weather concern is forecasted to be diminished in time for the fireworks show scheduled to start around 9:15.

“City of Saginaw Emergency Officials have received confirmation from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth that we did experience an EF 0 tornado yesterday afternoon. Wind speeds reached an estimated 80 MPH with the primary impact in the northern part of the city beginning just east of Old Decatur Road traveling NE for approximately 1.7 miles before exiting the city near Bailey Boswell Road at Comanche Springs Road. The tornado lasted approximately 7 minutes before exiting the city. Damage was primarily confined to trees, trampolines, fencing, roadway and business signage, minor roof damage and electrical power infrastructure that resulted in a power outage in the area lasting approximately 4 hours.

Emergency Officials have not been notified of any injuries as a result of the storm. As soon as the tornado threat had passed, fire, police and public works personnel began canvassing the affected areas and clearing the roadways. Saginaw Emergency Officials employed all available methods of alerting the citizens of yesterday’s weather event. There are a number of areas in Saginaw currently without electricity. Several signalized intersections are without power at this time. Oncor is working on restoring service as soon as possible and additional Fire, Police, and Public Works personnel will be monitoring traffic situations throughout the city.
