📚 ALL THREE LIBRARIES ARE KICKING OFF SUMMER READING - ALL FREE

Batavia Public Library of Illinois : Friday June 5, 10–11:30am. Foam party by , juggling & ice cream. Dress them to get wet.

Geneva Public Library District : Friday June 5, 3–4pm. Magician Ken Mate performs.

St. Charles Public Library--St. Charles, IL : Saturday June 6, 1–4pm. Games, crafts, music & ice cream truck.

🍓 WINDY ACRES STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
Windy Acres Farm Geneva, Il All weekend, 9am–6pm. Fresh strawberries, shortcake, petting zoo, live music, beer garden + grill. Tickets available in advance.

⚾ CHICAGO SNOWBALLS
Chicago Snowballs Saturday June 6, 6:30pm. Northwestern Medicine Field, Geneva. Co-ed baseball with acrobatics and a drumline built in. Not your average Saturday night.

📖 STORYTIME WITH MISS LINDY
Sunday June 7, 11am–12pm. Miss Lindy's Bakery , Downtown Batavia Batavia MainStreet Stories, cookies, ages 2–10. Free.

🌞 Summer reading programs are kicking off across the Tri-Cities and they are free, open to all ages, and packed with fun events.

Some programs require a library card from that specific library to register for the reading challenge. All kick-off events are drop-in and open to everyone.

Not on this list? Most libraries across the Fox Valley and beyond are running their own summer reading challenges this year too. Check with your hometown library, chances are they have something going on!

This library sits right on the Fox River trail and you can bike there. 🚲

Welcome back to Little Local Libraries, where I share the best kid-friendly libraries around that are perfect for play, learning, and low-stress outings with your little ones.

📍 Messenger Public Library of North Aurora
113 Oak St, North Aurora

Here's what moms and kids will love about this one:
🗺️ Scavenger Hunt: Dylan was on a mission the second we walked in. Simple, self-guided, and just enough to make it feel like an adventure.
🧸 Kids Play Area: Not huge or heavily themed, but it has hands-on toys, books, and enough space for little ones to explore independently while you actually decompress.
🚲 Trail Access: The library sits right along the Fox River bike path, making it a perfect mid-ride or mid-walk stop for the whole family.
🔧 Bike Repair Station: Outside you'll find tools and an air pump! It's definitely useful if you're coming in from the trail.
🌿 Outdoor Green Space: Open lawn area that hosts outdoor concerts and community events all summer long.
💬 Mom tip: This one is low-key and low-pressure — ideal when you want to get out of the house without overstimulating anyone (including yourself). Pair it with a Fox River trail walk and you've got a full morning.

🐾 Kane County Cougars should be on your summer list and this is your sign to make it happen!

⚾️ Great seats, fun mascots, baseball food staples, and two boys who did not want to leave. If you have little kids and have not made it out to Northwestern Medicine Field, this is the summer to go!

Gates open an hour before game time, parking is $10 cash for the general lot, and the venue is otherwise completely cashless so come prepared!

Opening night is May 15th!
