A few years ago, our family made a big move...from Columbia, MO to Kansas City. What we didn’t realize at the time was that this change would spark something much bigger than just a new address. With work and our boys’ soccer still calling us back to Columbia regularly, we found ourselves on the road… a lot. But we hated the feeling of just getting from point A to Point B. We started craving more.
More connection, More discovery, More moments that actually felt like life. Not only were we on the road, but Kansas City had changed a lot since I’d last lived there. So much that it felt like we were rediscovering it all over again. And with three curious kids in tow, we began searching for places that felt like little treasures: a park with space to run, a quirky roadside attraction, a local eatery with something new to try. The more I talked to other parents, the more I realized that they were also trying to find these same treasures. Right before the world shut down in 2020, we rebranded and launched our Family Travel YouTube channel, hoping to share the joy we were finding in these small, meaningful adventures. We didn't realize what was to come in just 3 short months. When even parks closed, we didn’t stop. We stayed close. We started telling the story of what it meant to make the most of the moment, even when things looked uncertain. Food trucks showed up in our neighborhood and gave us the perfect reminder: there’s always something worth celebrating. Always someone worth supporting. Always a memory waiting to be made...right where you are.
