Calling all Columbia County Authors!

Submissions now open for consideration on a special collection featuring Columbia County Authors through Nov 21st at St Helens Public Library. Please take a look at the post below.

Calling all Columbia County authors! The St. Helens Public Library is currently accepting submissions for a new special collection featuring Columbia County authors. The Columbia County Authors Special Collection will be housed in the St. Helens Public Library, and most items will be available for check out. The collection will support local authors and make their work more accessible to the Columbia County community.

The special collection is part of a broader effort by the St. Helens Public Library and Lower Columbia County Anthology organizers to support Columbia County writers through multiple efforts that will culminate in a month-long series of workshops and events beginning February 14, 2026.

Submissions for the Columbia County Authors Special Collection will be accepted from now through November 21, 2025. Anyone who lives or works in Columbia County or is a member of a Columbia County writing group is eligible to submit an entry. Any published book available to the general public either for sale or free is eligible. A book must be an original work and does not have to be produced by a traditional publisher or distributed through a retailer to qualify. Authors must hold the publication rights for all content in the book, including text and images.

To submit an entry, complete the submission form on the library website at https://www.sthelensoregon.gov/library/page/columbia-county-authors-special-collection-overview.

After the November 21 deadline, submissions will be reviewed, and authors will be notified of the review decisions by December 3. If an authorโ€™s work is accepted into the collection, they need to drop off their book to the St. Helens Public Library by December 12.

The Columbia County Authors Special Collection will debut to the community on February 14, 2026.

๐ŸŒป๐ŸThankful November: Celebrating Our Amazing Teachers! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ“š

To celebrate, Iโ€™m giving away 5 books to the first five teachers who comment on this post. You will get a signed copy of our featured book that explores perspective and point of view, โ€œThe Man on the Bike with the Blue Bird.โ€

As we embrace this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to the incredible teachers in my life both past and present.

I also want to recognize the amazing educators teaching our youngest learners in Pre-K and Kindergarten today. Your dedication and passion make a profound difference in shaping young minds! ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

Letโ€™s show our appreciation for the hard work and love that teachers put into their profession. ๐Ÿ’–

Shop Local Idea ๐Ÿ’ก

Another great gift idea for all my friends who love a cozy mystery. I have enjoyed getting to know her. She tells a good story.

Ellen Jacobson Author sets this story in North Dakota. Check out her page for more of her books and where you can purchase.

For book lovers, the library is a sanctuary. But in Why, North Dakota, itโ€™s just become a crime scene.

I grew up in the stacks of the Why Public Library. My family has run it for generations. So when the most odious man in town ends up dead in the storage room, it feels personal.

The police think the brand-new librarian did it, but Iโ€™m not so sure. To find the truth, Iโ€™ll have to check out every clue, from the whispers in the reading room to the secrets hidden in the Dewey Decimal System. Itโ€™s a mystery for the books, literally.

If you love the smell of old pages and the thrill of a good puzzle, this is the book for you.
