🌊 Meditation: “The Voice Above the Waters”

Heaven echoes with reverence, and earth trembles at the sound of His voice.
To “ascribe glory” is not mere acknowledgment—it’s surrender.
We bow not only because He is powerful, but because His holiness is radiant, splendorous, and unshaken. (Psalm 29:1–2)

The voice of the Lord does not whisper—it thunders.
It breaks through chaos (v. 3), splinters cedars (v. 5), and sets nations dancing like deer (v. 6).
But it also speaks peace over His people (v. 11).

In worship, we join the heavenly beings—not as spectators, but as voices of glory on earth.
We rise into His majesty not by noise, but by awe.

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

Today's Gospel (meditation follows)

Luke 10:25-37
There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said,
"Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law?
How do you read it?"
He said in reply,
"You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your being,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind,
and your neighbor as yourself."
He replied to him, "You have answered correctly;
do this and you will live."

But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus,
"And who is my neighbor?"
Jesus replied,
"A man fell victim to robbers
as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho.
They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead.
A priest happened to be going down that road,
but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.
Likewise a Levite came to the place,
and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.
But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him
was moved with compassion at the sight.
He approached the victim,
poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them.
Then he lifted him up on his own animal,
took him to an inn, and cared for him.
The next day he took out two silver coins
and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction,
'Take care of him.
If you spend more than what I have given you,
I shall repay you on my way back.'
Which of these three, in your opinion,
was neighbor to the robbers' victim?"
He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy."
Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

🕊️ Meditation on Luke 10:25–37

In this parable, Jesus answers a legal scholar's question not with a lecture, but with a story—one that pierces through religious formality and enters the heart of mercy. The priest and the Levite knew the law, yet their feet chose convenience over compassion. The Samaritan, an outsider in society’s eyes, became the embodiment of neighborly love.

To “inherit eternal life,” Jesus points us to love—a love that does not measure worthiness or weigh inconvenience. It is a love that crosses the road. That pours oil. That stays overnight. That pays the cost.

We are called to become neighbors—not just to those who look like us or believe like us, but to anyone bleeding by the roadside of life. In every stranger, we are invited to see the image of God and respond not with distance but with mercy.

🛐 Lord, soften our hearts to move toward those in need. Let our love for You overflow into love for our neighbor—costly, inconvenient, holy love. Amen.
