2026 Black Entrepreneur State Fair - Minneapolis, MN

I know, I know… I’m late. 😂 But good food doesn’t expire.

I pulled up to the 2026 Black Entrepreneur State Fair hungry, ready, and just a little wet because Minnesota weather had other plans.

I wanted to see what the fair had to offer beyond the typical fair-food lineup. No mission for another corn dog or bucket of fries—I was looking for flavors, dishes, and vendors bringing something different to the table.

Some things surprised me. Some things had me questioning my decisions. And a few might’ve earned a spot on the Lowkey Delicious radar. 👀

🥊 ROUND 2 at Thai Boat 89 - St Paul, MN

I’ve been to a lot of restaurants since my first visit…but that crispy pork belly at Thai Boat 89 has been steadily sitting in the back of my mind. 😂 So you already know—we had to run that back.

This time I came back for the pork belly, but I wasn’t leaving without exploring a little more of the menu. We tried a few new dishes, revisited some flavors, and put Thai Boat 89 to the test for a second time.

The question is: Was that crispy pork belly as good as I remembered…

Man…Que Viet fell off! This was so meh. $53. I was just sad.
Egg rolls 7/10, they were Que Viet egg rolls. The flavor has been dialed back drastically. Would still go back for em with all that meat in there!
Wontons 7.5/10, these were nice, airy, crunchy, and has a decent amount of that cream cheese that was not sweet, there is a bit of chewiness to the wrapper. Pairing with the dipping sauce takes it to another level.
Chicken Fried Rice 5/10, this was a meh experience. Minimal color, Minimal flavor, minimal ingredients, minimal everything.
Combo Egg Foo 3/10, it was orange on the inside and really airy with minimal flavor. The gravy was so thick and gelatinous. Didn’t pair well with the rice.

Uptown Pizza - Minneapolis, MN

The mission was simple: hit the new Harold’s Chicken in Uptown Minneapolis.

There was just one problem…
We pulled up around 10:30 PM and they were CLOSED — despite advertising hours until 2:00 AM. 😭

So now we’re in Uptown. Hungry. Plans ruined.
Then we found Uptown Pizza.
At that point, there was only one thing left to do…

🍕 The carnage ensued.

What started as a failed chicken mission turned into an unexpected late-night pizza run. Sometimes the backup plan ends up being the real story.

Welcome to the detour.
