I drop you off at school, but my heart is still with you all day long.
Because all day I am wondering.

I am wondering if everyone is being kind to you,
If your schoolwork is helping you feel good about yourself,
If you are laughing with a friend at lunch or quietly eating alone,
If you feel loved from me when I’m not by your side.
If you hear my words guiding you through the day.

Every moment I’m not with you
I wonder what you’re doing,
and how you’re feeling.

And when you leave school,
I can’t wait to hear your stories,
to make sure you’re good.

Even as you get more and more independent,
When you are at high school,
College,
and living on your own.

I am always thinking about you.

I’m teaching my kids something important early in life:

Someone who doesn’t wish you well
doesn’t deserve a place in your life.

It doesn’t matter if they’re a friend,
an aunt, an uncle, a cousin, or anyone else.

Love without kindness isn’t love.
Connection without respect isn’t connection.

We’re allowed to set boundaries.
We’re allowed to protect our peace.
We’re allowed to walk away from people who make us feel small.

That’s not being mean.
That’s being healthy.

And if I can teach my children anything,
it’s this:

You never have to earn a seat at a table
where you’re not treated well.

“how’s my babies”
“i got them this outfit”
“i miss my babies”

because they’re not just my nieces and nephews…

they’re a part of my everyday
a part of my heart
a part of the way i love

they’re the ones i think about
in the middle of my day
the ones i grab things for
without even thinking twice

because loving them
isn’t something i have to try to do
it just happens

i know them
their little personalities
their moods
what makes them laugh
what calms them down

the way they like things
the things that make them feel safe

their names come up
in the most random moments
not just when i’m with them

because they’re not just visits
not just holidays

they’re built into my life
woven into my routines

another safe place
another kind of love

the kind that doesn’t feel separate
from my own

the kind that feels like
they were always meant to be mine

She wakes up 3–4 times to breastfeed…
2–3 times to change diapers…
3–4 or more times just to soothe and help the baby fall back asleep…
And sometimes…

she wakes up even when the baby hasn’t cried,
even when the baby isn’t hungry—
just to check if everything is okay.

Her nights are not nights anymore…
they are small pieces of sleep, scattered between cries, feeds, and quiet checks.

She sleeps lightly, never fully resting—one ear always awake, one hand always reaching.

The clock doesn’t matter.
Time doesn’t exist.
Only the baby does.

Her eyes burn with exhaustion…
her body begs for rest…
but the moment the baby stirs—she’s already awake.

Some nights, she sits in the dark,
holding her baby, half asleep, half awake…
wondering when she last had a full night’s rest.

Some nights, she cries silently—
not out of regret,
but out of pure exhaustion no one sees.

And yet…
within this broken sleep,
there lives a strength no one talks about.

A strength that keeps her getting up,
again… and again… and again—
even when her body feels like giving up.

A strength that chooses love over sleep,
care over comfort,
her baby over herself.

And in the middle of the night,
when the world is asleep…
she becomes the strongest version of herself— quietly, unseen, but unbreakable.

Because her baby sleeps peacefully…
only because she stayed awake.

I’m very stingy with my kids.

I don’t just leave them with anybody.
I don’t do random babysitters.
I don’t do “it’ll probably be fine.”

I RARELY leave my children.

So if my kids are ever spending the night somewhere…
just know I trust you with my whole heart.

Because that’s not something I hand out easily.

So when I say,
“I can’t find a babysitter”

I mean that.

Not:
“I don’t have options”

But:
“I don’t have anyone I trust enough.”

There’s a difference.

Because I’m not dropping my kids off just anywhere for a night of fun.

I will sit at home with them every single time
before I take a risk with their safety.

Some people call that “too much”

I call it being a parent.

Sorry, my son…
For the moment I lost my temper.
For the words I didn’t mean…
For the tone you didn’t deserve.
You see me as your safe place,
and today… I forgot to be that.
I’m still learning…
still growing…
just like you.
But one thing will never change—
my love for you is bigger than my mistakes.
I’m sorry, my baby. 💔

You don’t get to dislike me and still expect unlimited access to my child.

That’s not how this works.

If you can’t treat the parent with basic respect, you don’t get special privileges with the child they’re raising.

My child isn’t a doorway you get to walk through while pretending I’m not standing there.

You don’t get to dismiss me, talk badly about me, undermine me… and then show up expecting hugs, visits, and family time.

That’s not love.

That’s entitlement.

A relationship with my child starts with the way you treat me.

Because I’m the one raising them.
I’m the one protecting them.
And I’m the one responsible for the environment they grow up in.

If someone brings tension, disrespect, or constant boundary pushing into that environment… access changes.

Not out of spite.

Out of protection.

In this house, boundaries aren’t suggestions.

They’re requirements.

Noticed something when watching Christmas Swim yesterday: after Trixie shoots a look at the screen when nana Chris inadvertently annoys her with the gravy (unknowingly implying Trixie is making it wrong), Bluey comes in with a request for a towel which Trixie immediately tasks Chris with doing. I know monkeys singing songs and all that, but I wonder if perhaps Trixie used Bluey's towel request as a way to get Chris out of the kitchen so she could make the gravy in peace
(Turned off comments because I got sick of all the people implying I'm an idiot for not noticing, apologies to those who actually wanted to add to the conversation)
