A cluster of thunderstorms is moving across northern and central Kansas! Additionally, a special weather statement has been posted for Ellsworth and Saline counties for 40mph winds and penny sized hail. These storms are moving almost straight east, so Salina should be prepared for some heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail in about 30 minutes!

Heavy rain, with a low chance of hail, are possible starting around 5am and continue throughout most of the morning across central Kansas! Current models show very heavy pockets of rain will have a chance of localized flooding. This line of storms will likely impact morning commutes, so make sure to be careful as roadways will collect water quickly! Stay safe and keep your eyes on the sky!

9/3/25: 🚨Hail outlook for this afternoon! The yellow shaded area indicates a 15% chance of hail, with the hash marks indicating large hail will be possible! Hail stones the size of golf balls are expected as of now, accompanied by winds up to 70mph in some areas!🚨

This is the updated Reflectivity (moisture) scan for the area today, 9/3/25. Storms look to initiate along the I-70 corridor around 5pm and track to the south-southeast. Strong winds, hail, and isolated tornado are all possible with these storms as the cold front sweeps across the area!
