I didnāt see this one comingā¦š„.
Severe vertigo landed me in the ER on Wednesday with a full cardiac work up and CT scan of my brain to rule-out a stroke.
As a nurse, Iām always amazed at our bodies. How even small things can affect their function. Seeing as all emergency related concerns were ruled out, I was sent home with nausea medication when thereās not much else to help stop a room from spinning.
Suggested discharge diagnosis was something viral related along with other potential causes. The virus theory is wild to me as Iāve never heard of having an infection of any sort that didnāt come with fever or sinus or GI symptoms. None of which I had. It was like it was completely silent. I just walked like I was intoxicated and felt like I was on one of those spinning things at the park. Two other women followed me to the ER that same morning with similar complaints leading a person to think it must be viral if others are experiencing similar complaints.
Iāve slept for a solid 2 days. I couldnāt do anything elseā¦.couldnāt walk, couldnāt look at a screen, couldnāt move my eyes to read a book, lights and noise sucked.
Last night, Josh helped me with some body maneuvers to adjust any inner ear crystals that may have become dislodged. Everyone wants to hear that they have some loose rocks up there. ššš§
I actually had some instantaneous relief from my spinning by doing those. The severity of my symptoms are much improved today. Today, Iāve cleaned the kitchen a little and hope to work on some online projects. Could have been the crystal maneuvers or the wearing out of a virus at 48-72 hours. Iām still unsteady on my feet and definitely not safe to drive yet.
Either way, my šØcheck engine light came on and forced a hard shut down on my body.
Those of us who never stop for breaksā¦eventually, our body will force us. Resting and restoring is so important for all of us. Iām thankful for this reminder and pray for a quick recovery not to be taken advantage of again.
