💔 This week, we talk about what really matters: victims, truth, and exposing the games that keep powerful men like Alex Murdaugh in the spotlight.

🎙️ Because justice isn’t about noise—it’s about truth.

💔 Maggie and Paul Murdaugh’s names appear barely 30 times in a 79-page appeal… while their killer’s excuses fill the rest.

⚖️ Plus: What we learned from watching Punch on Broadway — starring Will Harrison who portrays Buster in Murdaugh series on Hulu — about restorative justice.

📺🚨🚨…AND while the team reflects on Hulu’s new series, we are so thankful to have befriended Alicia Kelley who portrays Liz and what it means for victims’ stories.

Tuesday, Mandy, Liz and Eric explored authenticity in the courtroom through Cardi B’s ongoing case, systemic failures in law enforcement oversight, and the lessons society can learn from celebrity trials.

Our conclusion: Women’s stories matter—whether it’s Taylor Swift finding love on her own timeline, Cardi B showing honesty under pressure, or Christa Bauer Gilley’s loved ones demanding justice after her tragic death. This episode is about strength, truth, and refusing to stay silent.

Welcome to South Carolina, where citizens are the collateral damage.

This week on Cup of Justice:

⚖️ Is Bill Padget of HHP Law Group using a lawsuit to help his clients harass Mandy Matney and scare reporters into silence? (Feel free to tell them how you feel about that.)

🚨 USC tells students to “defend themselves” during a false active shooter scare…

🤥 Nancy Mace can legally lie about you — thanks to congressional immunity affirmed by Judge Gergel (YES… THE MURDAUGH JUDGE)

😡 Politicians free to spread defamation with zero accountability.

⚖️ The Scott Spivey case is now a political hot button issue thanks to Alan Wilson’s failures.

When those in power abuse the rules, the rest of us pay the price. Cup of Justice Ep. 143 takes you inside the chaos — and shows why it’s past time for change.

Mandy fights back against abusive deposition tactics in a harassment-fueled defamation case.

And a federal ruling confirms that Congresswoman Nancy Mace — and other members — have total immunity to SAY ANYTHING about ANYONE from the House floor.

Let’s get into it.

🤯 Cups Up! ☕ This week on Cup of Justice, get ready for an in-depth look at the State’s SAVAGE clapback to Alex Murdaugh’s appeal!

⚖️ Today we’re praising Alan Wilson’s 182-page brief as “well written” and “very compelling”, a “beautiful piece of literature” that’s “so much better than even the trial”.

📃 The brief clearly demonstrates “overwhelming obvious guilt” by highlighting how the murders coincided with his financial schemes coming to a head.

😆 The State’s brief even mocks Dick and Jim’s arguments as they are — losery and absurd.

💰 What a “colossal waste of taxpayer money” on this appeal, with the State’s response alone estimated to cost between $75,000 to $100,000 if it were written by private attorneys.

🦹 Many others involved in Alex’s years of financial crimes and cover-ups — have not been held accountable.

🛣️ Attorney General Alan Wilson’s recent decision to double down on the Scott Spivey case leaves us frustrated — but hopeful for change.

💬 And Nancy Mace enters the race for governor. What that means for the cases Alan Wilson is ignoring… and remembering that one time Nancy wrote Mandy a letter in 2022….

🤯 🚨 Prepare to be BLOWN AWAY by Elizabeth Packard’s incredible true story!

Join us on Cup of Justice as author Kate Moore (author of “The Woman They Could Not Silence”) shares how this sane 19th-century woman was committed to an asylum for simply speaking her mind.

Specifically, Elizabeth’s pastor husband decided she was crazy after he disagreed with her — and he then threw her in an insane asylum….

Elizabeth Packard and Mica Miller’s stories share so many stories – and we so badly wish that Mica had this book too years ago as she fought to get away from her husband.

Learn about the shocking reasons women were silenced and Elizabeth’s unwavering fight for freedom, even crowdfunding her own books!

💪 Discover how her resilience led to the hospital named after her asylum's superintendent was renamed in her honor

Her battle against gaslighting and patriarchy is a powerful, must-hear message for today! Listen wherever you get your podcasts staypes.ky/katemoorecoj

🎧 NEW Cup of Justice Episode Alert! 🚨 Get ready to get motivated and MAD after this week’s COJ on the Power of Victims’ Voices in the Idaho Murder Case and South Carolina’s War on Women & Threats to Press Freedom.

💔 We dive into the raw emotion and debate surrounding victim impact statements in the Idaho murder case, questioning how much they affected Bryan Kohberger or if that’s even worth considering.

⚖️ We also explore the unexpected plea deal that kept him from a death penalty trial, debating why he would choose life over the spotlight, with theories ranging from avoiding discussion of his non-existent s*x life to a sudden change by the defense.

‼️ We also look at a shocking case from Florence County where a woman was arrested and charged with “desecration of a corpse” after miscarrying an 18-week fetus, following a hospital worker calling Child Protective Services.

🚨 It’s an alarming trend of states policing women’s reproductive rights, making healthcare more dangerous, and disproportionately affecting women of color.

📰 In a disturbing twist, a journalist named Jessica Valenti of “Abortion, Everyday” covering this case was threatened with jail time and a fine by law enforcement for seeking police reports, citing a law “not intended” for journalistic purposes, seemingly to “protect itself because they knew they had done something messed up”.

🏈 And we also critically examine South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, accused of politicizing his role, focusing on his reputation outside the state, and alleged inaction on crucial cases, including those involving corruption, while prioritizing “hot button issues” like football prayers.

✊Tune in now for an insightful, no-holds-barred discussion on justice, corruption, and the fight for transparency.

Dive into our latest episode where we balk at Dick Harpootlian’s wild attempts for a new Alex Murdaugh trial (cue ‘fishing hole’ texts 🎣).

Then, prepare to be outraged as we dissect the Scott Spivey case, and the shocking decision not to charge under South Carolina’s antiquated ‘Citizen’s Arrest’ law 🚨.

We expose the deep flaws and the pervasive “good old boy” system at play, plus look into Russell Lafitte’s ongoing sentencing delays (what’s really happening there? Is is well played jurisprudence or just a ploy to have more time at his victim-funded swimming pool…??🏊).

Your public pressure is essential for real justice! 🔥 Tune in now and make some noise! staypes.ky/coj

This is the coolest!

How cool is this? My good friend, gentle giant and teddy bear Frank Eppes is vacationing in Hilton Head for a couple days and went to the Barnes & Noble bookstore to get a book for beach reading and saw Mandy Matney’s book Blood on their hands and my book Anything But Bland on the shelf. It is very humbling and never gets old. EB
