🚨 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING — EASTERN OKLAHOMA 🚨

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of north-central McIntosh County, east-central Okmulgee County, and west-central Muskogee County until 12:15 AM CDT.

⛈️ At 11:36 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Council Hill, moving south at 10 mph.

⚠️ PRIMARY THREATS:

💨 Wind gusts up to 60 mph
🧊 Quarter-size hail
🏠 Possible damage to roofs, siding, and trees
🚗 Hail damage to vehicles is possible

📍 LOCATIONS IN OR NEAR THE PATH:
Boynton • Council Hill • Wainwright • Hitchita • Eram • Pierce

The warning also includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 248 and 261.

⚠️ TAKE ACTION: Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows. If you're driving, be prepared for very heavy rain, reduced visibility, strong winds, and possible hail.

⚠️ RADAR UPDATE — STORMS CONTINUE ACROSS EASTERN OKLAHOMA & WESTERN ARKANSAS ⚠️

Scattered thunderstorms continue across the region this evening, with some of the stronger activity near Wagoner and Muskogee, north of Sallisaw, and across portions of western Arkansas.

🌩️ Areas seeing storms include:

Wagoner and Muskogee
Areas north of Sallisaw
Stilwell and Cedarville
Fort Smith and Van Buren
Lavaca and Charleston

The stronger storms are capable of producing heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and gusty winds. Additional thunderstorms remain possible as activity continues across the region tonight.

Strong to severe thunderstorms could impact eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with the highest severe weather threat during the late afternoon and evening hours before midnight.

⏰ Storms may develop as early as 1 PM in northwest Arkansas and 4 PM across eastern Oklahoma along and north of I-40. A lower severe threat may continue south of I-40 after midnight.

🌧️ EOW Weekend Heavy Rain Update 🌧️

Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding will be possible across parts of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas this weekend.

Saturday: A Slight Risk (15–40% chance) of excessive rainfall covers much of northwest Arkansas, while a Marginal Risk (5–15% chance) extends across much of eastern Oklahoma. The heaviest rain is expected Saturday afternoon and evening.

Sunday: The excessive rainfall threat shifts farther south and east, with a Marginal Risk covering southeast Oklahoma and portions of western Arkansas.

🌧️ Rainfall totals up to 1 inch are expected, with locally higher amounts of 2–3 inches possible. Areas that receive repeated thunderstorms could experience localized flash flooding.

Low thunderstorm chances are expected Tuesday afternoon into early evening, with the best opportunity for development across southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

🌦️ Rain Chances (1 PM – 8 PM):

Less than 10%: Tulsa, Bartlesville, Muskogee, and much of northeast Oklahoma
10–20%: McAlester, Hugo, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and surrounding areas

⚠️ Key Messages:

Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop Tuesday afternoon, mainly across southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
Any storms that form are expected to be isolated and should weaken after sunset.
A few stronger storms could produce gusty winds and brief heavy downpours.
If you have outdoor plans, keep an eye on the weather and move indoors if thunder is heard.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will remain in the forecast through early Sunday afternoon across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. As the day progresses, the better chances for storms will shift southward, focusing mainly along and south of Interstate 40 through Sunday afternoon and into the overnight hours.

20–30%: Portions of east-central Oklahoma, including Muskogee
