The Uncommon U

The Uncommon U I am a certified faith-based mindset coach, seasoned senior military spouse, mentor, mental health advocate, personal coach, and writer.

We equip women with the tools to build emotional resilience, rewrite the stories shaped by pain with the truth of God's word, and reclaim the voice that trauma tried to silence. I know what it means to carry invisible battles, to survive seasons that try to silence you, and still choose to rise. I proudly served in the United States Army, but as my family started to grow, I hung up my boots and st

arted traveling with my soldier. I stay in my field of finance, but with the constant moves that came with military life, my path began to shift. Over the last 25+ years, I have found myself coaching, mentoring, and serving women from all walks of life. It wasn’t something I set out to do—it was something God placed within me. I've had the pleasure of living in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and across the United States--an experience that has shaped my heart from women of diverse cultural backgrounds. After a life-altering accident, The Uncommon U was officially birthed—a movement to help women heal right. Through teaching emotional resilience, rewriting painful stories with the truth of God’s Word, and reclaiming their voice, I guide women from survival to transformation, from silence to strength, and from brokenness to wholeness. I believe every woman carries a testimony that can set another free. My mission is to create spaces, resources, and conversations that empower women to embrace their healing, reclaim their identity, and rise boldly into the uncommon life they were created for. Coach U interacts with followers on the text platform Community and offers private coaching.

The Cross Still Speaks ✝️

Today, God met me with two crosses and one word: surrender.

Matthew 11:28 says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Today, that verse came alive for me.

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed, wondering what I need to take off my plate. But the Lord whispered—“Nothing is coming off your plate. Surrender the plate to Me. I sent you to these assignments. I put those things there. They are not yours to carry—they are Mine.”

Then Isaiah 43:19 came as confirmation: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” And with it, another reminder—He is lengthening my stakes, strengthening my cords, and expanding my capacity for new territory.

But expansion requires surrender. As quickly as He places assignments on my plate, I must be just as quick to lay them back at His feet. Because I cannot do this in my own strength.

And then, God confirmed it again. This morning, a cross. This afternoon, another cross—so close it felt like it leapt into my line of sight. Twice, He reminded me: “You were never meant to bear the heavy load.” And neither are you. Surrender it all.

The cross still speaks. And today, it spoke rest, surrender, and new beginnings.

Chosen by Grace, NOT by Works.

I was wrestling with something for a while now. I asked, “Why me? How me?”—and the answer came right through His Word.

When I opened my Bible, my notes from Romans 11 stared back at me:
• It’s not about what you’ve done or haven’t done.
• It’s not about striving or proving yourself.
• It’s about God’s love and His sovereign grace that reached for you.

Sometimes when we wrestle with why God chose us, we’re using human logic. But grace doesn’t follow logic—it follows love. He wanted you. He set His eyes on you before you even knew Him.

👉🏾 My Bible margin note reminded me:
“He blinds those who didn’t want to see … otherwise it’s a violation of free will.”

That means your “yes” mattered. You weren’t forced—you were chosen, and you responded.

💛 So today, instead of asking “Why me?”—declare:
• “Thank You, Lord, that You chose me.”
• “I am saved by grace, not works.”
• “I am evidence of Your love.”

Sometimes wisdom looks like silence. Even when you have a lot to say, peace speaks louder.

Don’t fall for the nonsense—your opposition has expertise in the stye. You were called to stand in strength, not wallow in mud.

Silence isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom.

‘In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.’ (Isaiah 30:15)

Some seasons feel endless when you’re in them—pain, pressure, uncertainty. But they pass.

Ecclesiastes 3 says everything has a season. That means even the pain, the pressure, the mental battles—they won’t last forever. I remember sitting in a season that seemed endless—almost 15 years—waiting for change to come. I wasn’t in grave danger, but I felt stuck. Over time, that stuckness turned into bitterness. It was a long season, yes. But it was still a temporary one. The hard part is—I almost made a detrimental permanent decision in the middle of it.

As I was recovering from my accident, it felt endless…I was reminded of that long season prior then I was reminded: “It’s a season.” And seasons change. Morning came. Healing came. Joy came.

Here’s the part we often miss: healing has a season too. And it doesn’t look like productivity—it looks like rest, stillness, shedding tears, and surrender. In that season, it felt like nothing was moving, but God was rebuilding me in ways I couldn’t yet see.

If you’re in a hard place—or a healing place—remember, it’s only a season. And seasons change. Joy truly does come.

Hold on—yours will too.

If you’re stuck right now, remember—it’s not forever. Don’t let a temporary moment define your permanent story.

👉🏾Have you ever made a decision out of frustration that you later had to walk back?

Most people says “Ugh, it’s Monday.”
But here’s the truth ⬇️

You don’t have to work… you get to work.

Gratitude shifts the weight of the day into momentum.

Monday isn’t manic—it’s a fresh start, a chance to reset, and an open door for new wins this week.

Monday is not your enemy—it’s your launchpad.

Who’s ready to step into the week differently? Tag a friend who needed this mindset shift.

Sometimes the hardest person to show up for is… you.

It’s easier to keep every other commitment and put yourself at the bottom of the list. But hear me — you are not an afterthought. 💛

Showing up for yourself looks like:
👋🏾Keeping promises you’ve made to you.
👋🏾Creating space for your own healing.
👋🏾Saying “yes” to rest and “no” to depletion.

You can’t pour from an empty cup, and God never asked you to run on fumes.

Take care of the vessel so you can carry the vision.

Because when you show up for you, you’ll show up better for everyone else.

Which area are you going to show up for yourself in this week?

I thought I could hustle my way to healing…
but I learned the hard way—I had to be softened.
I had to sit.
Rest.
Breathe.
I had to embrace the blessing in stillness
and surrender to a new rhythm.
