As Corpus Christi’s water reservoirs drop to just 12% capacity, city leaders are scrambling for solutions but none may arrive soon enough. Six City Council members who recently voted to cancel the $1.2 billion Inner Harbor desalination project held a press conference touting two new deals:
A $169 million Evangeline Groundwater Agreement which may not deliver water until late 2026, possibly costing over $800 million with pipelines and treatment.

A $2.7 million Harbor Island desalination reservation which could cost up to $3 billion and isn’t expected to produce water until 2029.

Mayor Paulette Guajardo warned that none of these plans can guarantee water before the city reaches emergency curtailment levels by November 2026.
Meanwhile, Governor Greg Abbott said he is closely monitoring the crisis.
For now, residents face uncertainty and “immediate relief” looks anything but immediate.

The normally quiet chambers of the Kendall County Commissioners Court were anything but calm this past session when constitutional and biblical advocate Rick Green took the podium, delivering a fiery testimony that raised eyebrows.
Green, known for his direction of The Patriot Academy and his push to designate it as “Constitution City” an incorporated community inside the County near Comfort, told commissioners that his vision would move forward “with or without county approval.”
“We’ve talked long enough,” Green said firmly, addressing the bench. “By this time next year, my Constitution City will be up and running….a model of local governance grounded in freedom, accountability, and biblical values. Whether the county wants to support that or not is up to you, but it’s going to happen.”
His comments came during a lengthy meeting that also included discussion on water resources and the county’s participation in the Dark Skies Project, a regional effort to preserve natural night visibility and reduce light pollution.
Green used part of his allotted time to criticize a previous speaker, a local resident who had advocated strongly for expanding the Dark Skies initiative.
“We’ve got people worried about the brightness of porch lights,” Green said, “while ignoring the dimming of liberty across this county. We should be more concerned about overreach than over-lighting.” Green even referred to the local speaker’s presentation as Marxist.
Commissioners remained largely silent, though Judge Stolarycyzk briefly reminded speakers to keep their comments “respectful and issue focused.”
Green concluded his testimony with a call to action, urging citizens to “stand up for their rights at the local level” and promising that Kendall County would be “the proving ground for freedom in Texas.”
Some citizens have whispered concerns about jurisdiction, zoning, a major fi****ms range inside the community, and how exactly a “Constitution City” would operate within county law and how the county would provide fire and police to the stand alone compound.
No formal action was taken by the court on the matter although County Commissioner Chad Carpenter and Rick Green will be speaking alongside each other at a Comfort town hall meeting this week.
Uncertainty remains whether Green will get his Constitution City or not, but one thing appears clear:
Rick Green’s bold declaration ensured his proposed city near Comfort TX, won’t fade away quietly and without a fight.

One of the most powerful protests in U.S. history didn’t involve shouting or violence…….it involved crawling.
On March 12, 1990, dozens of disability rights activists left their wheelchairs and crutches and crawled up all 78 steps of the U.S. Capitol to demand equality and accessibility. Among them was 8-year-old Jennifer Keelan, who said, “I’ll take all night if I have to.”
Their courage shocked the nation and just four months later, Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), making it illegal to discriminate based on disability.
The “Capitol Crawl” wasn’t just a protest. It was a powerful reminder that accessibility isn’t charity it’s a civil right.

“From Faith to Fire in Waco, Texas”

Over thirty years ago, 53 adults and 23 children were incinerated after a firefight with the ATF. The tiny sect of the Branch Davidians, and its charismatic leader David Koresh, was suddenly world famous.

What started as a peaceful Bible based community in a rural area outside Waco, years later spiraled into tragedy when charismatic leader David Koresh took control, stockpiled weapons, and isolated his followers. In 1993, a 51-day federal standoff ended in fire, killing 76 people.

Koresh often portrayed the U.S. government as corrupt or an oppressive part of a “Babylonian” system opposed to God.
He used references to the Constitution in his teachings to justify defiance.

Some historians say the lesson here is that even communities or compounds built on faith or ideals can become dangerous when one person’s vision replaces reason.
Could something like this happen again in Texas today?
