Homes in Potranco West are newly built by Terrata Homes, with “hand‑selected interiors,” modern floor plans, upgraded finishes, etc. 
You’re likely to get contemporary design, energy‑efficiency, open layouts, etc. rather than having to retrofit older homes. 
2. Oversized lots / more space / privacy
The subdivision offers larger homesites (“oversized homesites”) and is built in a more spread‑out, suburban / semi‑rural setting. 
Being outside the dense city center gives more room, more trees, a quieter vibe. 
3. Natural surroundings & lifestyle appeal
Potranco West is in the rolling hills west of San Antonio. There are nature trails, trees, green spaces, and the feel of being more secluded while still having proximity to urban amenities. 
If you like outdoor recreation, nature, peace & quiet, this type of location tends to be more attractive.
4. Good schools (Medina Valley ISD)
It is in the Medina Valley Independent School District, which many people find appealing. 
Schools tend to be relatively close (10 minutes or so). 
5. Proximity to San Antonio (but with balance)
You get a balance: you’re far enough away from the city to enjoy slower pace, nature, less congestion (in your neighborhood at least), but still within a commutable distance to San Antonio for work, shopping, dining, etc.

For what you get (lot size, modern home, location), many people find that the cost is decent compared to living inside San Antonio or in more densely developed suburbs. Potranco West pricing ranges in the $450‑$600k plus range depending on size. 
For people wanting more space, more house, and more privacy, this area tends to “stretch the dollar” better.
