My brother’s adult kids still live at home.

And he’s not the only one.

Currently, 31.8% of U.S. adults aged 18 to 34 reside with their parents.

That’s the highest percentage since 1940, when families were surviving the tail end of the Great Depression.

Here’s why:

→ Housing costs have increased by 2,350% (adjusted for inflation)
→ Tuition has gone up 300%
→ Wages have only grown half as fast

It’s not laziness.

It’s not entitlement.

It’s basic economics.

In 2023, only 15.5% of homes on the market were affordable for the average U.S. household.

That’s the lowest share ever recorded.

Builders can’t afford to build affordable homes.
Buyers can’t afford to buy them.

And the solution?
It’s hard.
It takes years.
And it requires real cooperation.

Developers and local governments need to navigate years of red tape—permitting, zoning, and endless delays—just to get a project off the ground.

The truth is, we’ll never fix this if we keep letting politics get in the way.

Affordable housing is not a left vs. right issue.

It’s a survival issue.

It’s time to get serious.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
At 14, I wrote in my journal that I wanted to:
1. Serve in the military
2. Go on a mission
3. Do something that would truly make a difference in the world
Looking back… that “weird kid with big vision” wasn’t so weird after all.
It worked out.
From military service to global health, to building impact through real estate—I’ve always believed in using my life to serve others.
