There are benefits to having wax in your ears but there has to be a balance. Wax provides moisture and keeps the skin of the ear canal healthy. It also deters insects from finding a warm place inside. But when wax build up too much, it can cause: 👂🏾Muffled hearing 👂🏾Fullness 👂🏾Pain 👂🏾Itchy ears 👂🏾Dizziness/Imbalance 👂🏾Infection Remember, wax build up doesn’t mean you’re dirty or unclean. It just means you have to have your ears checked regularly to make sure it doesn’t become impacted. SHARE and SAVE👍🏾 Do you get wax build up?

Bee stings are fairly common. Most cause local mild symptoms like pain, swelling, and itching at the sting site and they can be treated at home. If these localized reactions progress, they can turn into a cellulitis which is a bacterial infection of the skin and surrounding soft tissues. The stinger from the bee breaks the skin and contaminants or bacteria on the skin can come in contact with this area causing the infection. Some people can have more severe reactions called anaphylaxis if they are allergic to the bee sting. Symptoms of anaphylaxis include: Throat and mouth swelling Shortness of breath Hives Difficulty swallowing Chest tightness Cramps Vomiting Wheezing Feeling of doom My “patient”🤭 isn’t allergic to bee stings but has developed a significant local reaction to the sting. I was concerned enough today that I decided to initiate more treatment than just ice and elevation. Praying that his ear feels better soon. Please pray for my husband and leave your well wishes🙏🏾

Some of the items I got from Amazon are linked in my storefront. Check my bio👍🏾 Tell me what you think about the custom shoes. Do you like them?

This is not the first time a patient has brought in a “specimen” for me to see. As an ENT surgeon, I’ve seen it all. This one was quite cool! It ended up being a nasal polyp. The patient thought it was a polyp from the throat because they coughed it out their mouth. However, they first sniffed back hard and then coughed out the chunk of tissue. I did put the tissue in a specimen cup and sent it to pathology to confirm the diagnosis. Once I examined their nose, I immediately confirmed a diagnosis of sinonasal polyps. Man, I wish I took a picture of it because it was pretty cool to see.

Pregnant + Choking + Home Alone! I shared a previous video where I discussed what to do if you’re home alone and choking. I got many comments asking what to do if you’re pregnant. This video reviews the important difference when performing the Heimlich maneuver in yourself…and guess what, it’s the same adjustment if you’re the one performing the Heimlich maneuver on a pregnant person. The main difference is that the thrust applied is placed higher in the chest area. The video shows you exactly where that thrust should go so please take the time to view it. The other steps are still the same: 1. Call 911 2. Cough aggressively 3. Perform Heimlich maneuver 4. Seek medical help SAVE and SHARE this important information. It’s definitely LIFE-SAVING🙏🏾

The most common ENT emergencies I see in order are severe nosebleeds (mostly related to blood thinner medication use), post tonsillectomy bleed, and airway obstruction. I do see foreign bodies but most of the time they’re in the front of the nose or in the ear so they’re not considered an emergency. I could have put peritonsil abscess but for them to cause an emergent airway obstruction is very rare and most don’t have to be drained emergently either. Sudden hearing loss is listed because of someone losses their hearing suddenly, it’s extremely important to treat that immediately in order to hopefully recover the hearing. Were you surprised to see Sudden Hearing loss as an ENT emergency?

For Medical Education Purposes Only! Did you go look in your mouth? I did! We don’t really know why some people develop these bony growths but some think the following are possible risk factors for Torus palatinus: 1. Teeth grinding 2. Tooth crowding or jaw anatomy 3. Genetics 4. High bone density If a larger torus palatinus is large and causes symptoms, an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) specialist or oral surgeon should be seen to discuss removal.
