The brother and sister looked at each other with tears in their eyes. They had lost their birth parents two years ago. They sensed they were moving to a new family—their third in the last fifteen months. Their belongings fit into two trash bags with room to spare. What they didn't know was that this might be the last time they saw each other.

This story plays out too many times in our city. 1HOPE for Kids is conquering the crisis one family at a time.

"I could never do that..."

When it comes to foster care, most people's first instinct is resistance. "I could never do that," they say. It's too hard to say goodbye. My heart couldn't take it. What about my other kids? I'm not married.

These fears are real. They are rooted in the deep knowledge that stepping into someone else's brokenness will cost something. However, they are also built on misconceptions that prevent too many from taking the first step and experiencing the God of the universe working through them!

Not called to foster? There are many other ways to provide love, comfort and healing to a hurting family.

A different take on Good Friday. The followers of Jesus were confused and disappointed after the crucifixion. Many were expecting Jesus to establish His Kingdom. They expected He would rescue them from the rule of the Roman Government. But now He was dead, and all of their hopes were shattered.

As we reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made for us, shouldn't we leave our own expectations at the cross? That spouse you have been praying for, the job you just applied for, the child you are waiting for, the doctor's prognosis. All our expectations. Let's take Jesus out of the box we built and just let Him be Jesus this Easter.

As we do, what could happen may be greater, more significant, and more earth shattering than we ever thought possible... just like His resurrection! Let's celebrate this Easter Sunday with no expectations... but... with an expectant Spirit!

Isaiah 55:9. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
