A California native with a background in film production, Melissa found her passion for real estate through her own experience as a homeowner and investor. Over the years, she’s combined her creative eye, organizational skills, and resilience to build a thriving business that resonates with artists, musicians, and families alike.

We’re thrilled to feature Janell O’Meara, 2025 President of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® San Diego, as one of this month’s cover agents.

Janell’s journey into real estate is a story of resilience and reinvention. Originally on track to pursue a PhD in developmental psychology, life shifted when she became a stay-at-home mom to three young children, including twins. Years later, when it was time to return to full-time work, real estate emerged as the perfect fit — a career that combined her background in psychology and nursing with her natural empathy, problem-solving skills, and ability to build trust.

But it was after her divorce in 2020 that Janell truly found her voice as a leader. Joining the Women’s Council of REALTORS® became a turning point, opening doors to new opportunities and inspiring her to step into leadership. From Events Chair to President-Elect and now incoming President, she has embraced every step with determination. Through WCR, Janell has sharpened her leadership, grown her business, and ignited her passion for empowering others.

To Janell, leadership is about balance, growth, and impact — not just on clients, but on the community of women in real estate. With deep gratitude for the mentors who’ve supported her journey, she’s committed to paying it forward by fostering education, confidence, and leadership in others.

This month, we’re proud to feature Genie Irish, 2025 President of NAHREP San Diego, as one of our cover leaders.

A true South Bay native, Genie grew up with grit and determination, inspired by her immigrant mother a strong single mom who became a homeowner through sacrifice and perseverance. Those early experiences shaped Genie’s belief that every family, especially single mothers, deserves the chance to build stability and generational wealth through homeownership.

As President of NAHREP San Diego, Genie leads with that same heart and purpose. Her mission is to raise the bar for agents through education, create opportunities for sustainable housing, and empower her community to achieve generational wealth. She reminds us that leadership isn’t easy balancing family, business, and presidency takes sacrifice but good things never are.

When she’s not leading in real estate, you’ll find Genie cheering from the stands as a proud baseball mom ⚾ because family is always at the center of her why.

This month, we’re proud to feature Greg Hill, President of NAREB San Diego, as one of the leaders gracing our September cover.

Greg’s journey into real estate started with an unexpected twist. When the bank branch he managed closed during COVID, he reignited a license he’d held since 2016 and in helping his wife and himself buy their first home, he discovered his true calling. Real estate quickly became more than a career; it became his mission to help families build stability and generational wealth.

Adopted into a white family in a ski town, later serving in the Navy, and ultimately finding his voice in advocacy, Greg’s life experiences have shaped his perspective and his passion for equity in housing.

Today, through his leadership at NAREB, he is carrying forward a powerful legacy: championing Black homeownership, closing the racial wealth gap, and creating access to opportunity where barriers once stood.

Balancing business, family, and leadership isn’t always easy but Greg says the impact outweighs the pressure. From mentorship and advocacy to building community partnerships, his presidency has been both a responsibility and an honor.

Greg embodies what it means to lead with purpose not just for today, but for generations to come.
