I Left San Diego After 46 Years… and Here’s Why I’m Not Looking Back 🤠
Most people thought I’d never leave San Diego. I mean, who gives up the beach, the weather, and the tacos? 🌮
But after nearly 5 decades, I realized I wasn’t living—I was just getting by.
So we packed up and made the move to Austin, Texas. Here’s why:
1️⃣ Out-of-touch state & local leadership – I got tired of feeling like my hard work wasn’t getting me anywhere. The policies in CA made it tough to thrive.
2️⃣ Housing was crazy expensive – Whether renting or buying, it felt like you needed $1M just to get in the game. Here in Austin, I’m surrounded by brand new homes that people can actually afford.
3️⃣ Cost of living was crushing – In San Diego, I was spending over 60% of my income just to survive. In Texas? I’ve cut that nearly in half. I’m now in the low 30% range—and it’s made a world of difference.
4️⃣ The homelessness crisis – It broke my heart. Beautiful parts of the city were becoming unrecognizable, and no one had real solutions.
5️⃣ New housing laws adding overcrowding – They’re stacking people on top of each other, turning family neighborhoods into apartment zones. No thanks.
6️⃣ Traffic, traffic, traffic – I felt like I was living in my car. Now, I spend less time on the road and more time living.
Here in Austin, I finally feel like I’m moving forward—personally, financially, and professionally.
I’m working with Lennar Homes, helping families buy beautiful new homes in Central Texas… and it feels good to finally be in a place that’s growing with intention.
👉 If you’ve ever thought about leaving California—or just want a fresh start somewhere that still feels like freedom—reach out. I’m happy to share what I’ve learned.
Thanks for all the love and support as we settle into this next chapter! ❤️
