🌹 KNOW BEFORE YOU GROW: Own-Root vs. Grafted Roses 🌹

Have you ever bought a rose and wondered what “own-root” or “grafted” actually means — or if one is better than the other?

Here’s the simple version:

🌱 Own-root roses grow entirely on their own root system. If they die back and regrow from the roots, you’ll still have the same rose variety you originally planted.

🌹 Grafted roses are created by joining the rose variety you want onto the root system of another rose. They can often give you a larger, more vigorous plant faster, but any growth coming from below the graft may be the rootstock rather than the rose you purchased.

The important part? Neither one is automatically better! Your climate, growing conditions, and what you want from your rose can all play a role in which is the better choice for your garden.

I grow both, and there are pros and cons to each!
