Here's an odd one you don't see. 1980s Samsung ss-3500 receiver. Bench tested at about 40 watts. excellent FM sensitivity and selectivity. Discrete output and heavy!

This one was badly in need of some love. A lot of missing k***s, some resoldering, a protection relay and a tuner alignment.

A small 14 pin ic does everything for the amp. No adjustments. Definitely unique.

This Sony TC-260 had just about everything wrong with it. frozen up mechanism, bad idlers, defective, hard to obtain germanium transistors and loads of bad electrolytic capacitors. It fought me at every turn.
I was able to get it working well and sent it back to its owner - the daughter of the man who recorded tapes on it for his family in 1968, 6 months before his death while the family was stationed in Germany, as he was in the Army.

I recently got this message from her:

"Hi Jordan. Got the reel last night and was able to play the tapes my dad made back in 1968 about 6 months before he died while we were stationed in Germany. It brought back so many memories from my childhood. I can't thank you enough for making the tape player run. Even if it doesn't run for very long it was so worth it."

The second photo is of her Father recording tapes on this very machine.

This one is a low hour set in exceptional condition. The CRT tests new with excellent cutoff.

Critical capacitors in the power supply and sweep circuits known for failure in these generations have been replaced as a precaution.

Areas of the board where wave soldering breaks down from heat were resoldered with new 60/40.

This is an excellent set for your retro collection.

Local pickup is encouraged, but I will ship for additional cost.

here's a Pioneer Spec 4 power amplifier we serviced for a customer with a highly intermittent problem that happened just frequently enough to keep it in protection.

Once we found the defective transistors in the front end of the power amp and performed some needed maintenance it came back to life and is singing beautifully again!

Sometimes you need to stop and give your test equipment some love.

Our b&k 1240 which is nearing 60 years old was showing signs of needed maintenance - still running on all original parts.

The electrolytics in the power supply and RF output had seen better days. After replacing them we recalibrated the set and ran it for stability check.

Works like new again. They don't build em like this anymore.

Serviced this Craig all in one with a BSR turntable. It's only flaw is a broken contact on the 8 track display light for #2. Everything else on it works now. New stylus as well.

Finished up servicing this late 50s Motorola Suitcase record player. Recapped electronics, cartridge and completely serviced cycling mechanism.
Someone had already replaced the idler, but that doesn't do much when the mechanism is locked up from old grease!
