Good vibes and summer fun were free flowing at Sycuan Casino Resort! On Monday, July 28, Sycuan welcomed a group of San Diego’s finest concierge to stay and play at their property. Concierges sampled tasty bites from an assortment of the eight food and beverage outlets on property while simultaneously learning about the rich culture of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and how they give back to the local community through the successes and profits of Sycuan. Concierges were greeted upon arrival with a fun swag bag chock full of goodies. A walking tour hosted by Media Supervisor of Casino Marketing and Advertising, Tony Zarate, and his incredible team, first stopped at Corner Deli and Pizza for some tasty bites of chocolate and vanilla gelato before they made their way to the 21-table poker room. From there guests raised a glass of champagne for a toast of good luck and learned a little more about the casino’s commitment to the surrounding community. Next stop had guests reveling in more good fortune as they rubbed the pink Buddha Belly on their way into Karma Lounge to indulge in its Pan-Asian delicacies such as Kalbi beef short ribs and fried rice. They savored every tasty morsel and also feasted on the rich education that Sycuan prides itself on. The next stop took concierges on a walkthrough of the Bingo Hall where they were gifted ‘Bingo Bags’ filled with more bingo-themed swag. Up next was a visit to the Live & Up Close Theater where concierges were impressed by the work of the staff who are responsible for the world-class productions in this 450-seat theater that Sycuan hosts throughout the year – from comedy shows to live entertainment. A quick pitstop for refreshments in the VIP Lounge left concierges feeling like a million bucks. They then filed into the Rapid Slot competition room where the sounds of jackpot chimes mingled with the excited squeals of delight as concierges engaged in a frenzied three-minute-long speed-slot tournament. The top 15 competitors from two rounds then took the stage for a final three-minute championship showdown. Ultimately, three concierges with the fastest fingers were awarded the top prizes. The energy level was high as they made their way to Suerte Cantina for some homemade chips, salsa, guacamole and queso, along with margaritas. Sycuan Casino Resort General Manager, Rob Cinelli, addressed the group and detailed how Sycuan gives back to the community by providing essential service support. Relaxation awaited the group as they approached Spa Ritual. The heavenly scent of aromatherapy was lingering in the air as they learned about the day spa that’s been voted #1 Massage in San Diego on more than one occasion. The final stop was the perfect end to an exciting and fun-filled day as the group settled into three cabanas overlooking the breathtaking pool area. The music and vibes were pumping as the mai tais and nibbles were flowing—fruit seasoned with Chamoy and Tajin, Buffalo wings, chicken tenders and fresh veggie sticks were the perfect way to end the tour.
Several concierges and their guests decided they weren’t ready for the fun to end so they changed into their swimsuits and enjoyed the lazy river and a swim-up bar in Retreat Pool & Cabanas on a gorgeous summer afternoon where everyone agreed that Sycuan Casino Resort is definitely one of San Diego’s true gems to stay and play!
