Repost from Lost in History Newspaper caption: "Arkansas Gazette reporter Jerry Dhonau (far left) is among journalists helping to shield Elizabeth Eckford from the angry crowd Sept. 4 1956, as she waits for a bus during the Little Rock Central High Crisis”. (Photo and caption from arkansasonline.com )

It was this photo in the book that showed my grandmother as a high school student in 1948. I had never seen a young photo of her. I did not know what a Rosenwald school was then, but thanks to AAHA I surely do now."
