❗️Comment "sleep" below and I will send you access to my FREE Masterclass that will help you teach your child how to sleep independently!
⚡️In this masterclass, we cover sleep schedules, environment, sleep training methods, the foundation of independent sleep and more!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After I had my first child, I quickly realized that the sleep deprivation people warn you about cannot fully be understood until you're in the thick of it. Hospitals offer classes for new parents on welcoming baby, bringing baby home to siblings, breastfeeding, even introducing your new baby to your pets... but nothing is every offered on SLEEP!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since then, I've become a Certified Baby & Child Sleep Consultant, welcomed a second child who is now 3 years old, and have my 3rd on the way:) I felt strongly as though while I knew I needed sleep to function, my child also needed sleep, I needed to be available to my family and didn't want to be stuck in a fog during my children's wonder years. I want to ENJOY this time with my little ones!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to help as many parents as possible, THRIVE during their children's early years. Parenting is HARD, no matter what. Prioritizing sleep can make it that much easier.

You might have seen a mom bring up sleep training in a certain Facebook group or forum only to then be reamed online by other parents.
I'm here to tell you that absolutely CAN breastfeed AND get sleep. You can bottle feed AND get sleep. You can formula feed AND get sleep. You can sleep shape, you can sleep train, whatever the case may be. I ebf both of my children and was able to achieve this, in fact, it seems to be that the majority of my clients breastfeed! So please, do not let grumpy tired people shame you for your feeding, sleeping, parenting, etc choices!!

It might be time to drop the nap if;
-Your child over 3 years old?
- Are they struggling to fall asleep at bedtime if they've napped?
- Do they wake up earlier on the days they've napped?
- Are they content powering through their nap (with an earlier bedtime as a response)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To drop the nap:
- I highly recommend offering quiet time as a substitute for naptime.
- If they fall asleep for their nap, cap it first at 1.5 hours. If you don't see any improvements, decrease it to 60 or 45 minutes.
- On the days they don't nap, put them to bed 30-60 minutes earlier!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For those 2-year-old parents out there, yes, I know they're fighting that nap but keep offering quiet time and it will return!

HI, I'm Lexi, Infant & Child sleep consultant, wife, and soon-to-be mom of 3. I teach tired parents how to teach their children to sleep through the night by creating an independent sleep routine that nurtures the child's blossoming independence while maintaining the deep connection they share.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We deserve to experience parenthood through a lens that isn't completely clouded and overshadowed by sleep deprivation.
Healthy sleep habits can have a positive impact on both the children's well-being and the parents' overall quality of life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a few short months, I will be welcoming a new baby into the world and heading back into exhaustion territory, BUT, I won't stay there. I don't have time for that! I've got an amazing husband and two other children who I want to show up for. Using my own newborn guide, I will walk this baby through the same methods I applied to my other two, which set them up to have a solid sleep foundation. And no, breastfeeding your child doesn't mean they can't sleep!

Whether your expecting your first or are a seasoned mom, if you need help with your child's sleep, please, click the link in my bio. I have a plethora of fantastic free resources to help you teach your child to sleep.

Teaching your child how to sleep independently in their own bed is a wonderful way to support their growth and development. Just like helping them learn to walk, talk, and eat by themselves, guiding them to sleep on their own fosters a sense of self-reliance, confidence, and emotional well-being.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nurturing independent sleep habits benefits both you and your child. As they grow more capable of falling asleep without your constant presence, you'll have the opportunity to recharge yourself, enhancing your well-being and parenting capacity. This, in turn, allows you to be more present and engaged during your waking hours together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember, the process of teaching your child to sleep independently doesn't have to be abrupt or detached. It can be a gradual journey filled with patience and understanding. Implementing bedtime routines, comfort objects, and soothing practices can help them feel secure as they embrace this new skill.

A few babies have joined my family recently, and being pregnant myself, this is fresh on my mind. Postpartum is such a dichotomy of intoxicating affection for your baby combined with waves of longing to get back to normal.
We all handle this differently, each week brings new feelings. I vividly remember being 5 weeks postpartum with my first, and feeling the new weight of motherhood, but then right at that time my baby started social smiling and it completely rejuvenated me. It was like things were by design!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a physiological level, we need sunlight to help regulate our brain and our body. So, turn on the lights, open the blinds, get outside, turn something funny on the TV and get your brain working towards creating a healthier, happier, postpartum experience. Prioritize this, prioritize healing and don't be afraid to ask for help and create boundaries for yourself and baby❤️.

Hello wonderful Instagram family. It's been a while since I have posted! I have been on a much needed break; as you can see, I'm pregnant🦋! Currently posting from my 24 week appointment. Baby #3 will be here in late October, and just like with #2, we are waiting until delivery to learn whether we are welcoming a little boy or a little girl. With each child, I have gotten very sick until the second trimester. With this one, it easily lasted through the 16-17th week. Because of this, I have paused on working with families, 1-1, but still have my sleep training course, The Better Sleep Course, accessible online! 💤
Currently, I am catching up on unread IG messages and am looking forward to getting back to weekly Sleep Q&A's again! I will also be appearing on a wonderful podcast here shortly and will be sure to update you all so you can give it a listen!
Tell me, how has your summer been so far?!☀️

Daytime sleep and bedtime have a huge influence on how a child sleeps overnight. Let’s address how to know when it’s time to move bedtime later, and when it’s time to move it earlier. Although, after reading this blog post, many parents will likely realize they need to move their child’s bedtime earlier!

The older your child gets, the less they are going to be affected by dreaded overtiredness. Children have a sweet spot for sleep between 6-8pm. Overtiredness isn’t just some myth, it’s brain chemistry! Most parents that come to me for help are putting their child to bed too late, so let’s look at some signs that will help you determine whether you should be moving bedtime later OR shifting it earlier.

Signs you should move bedtime later:
* Your child is taking a long time (over 20 minutes) to fall asleep at bedtime and is content, not losing their mind.
* They are also waking earlier and earlier.
* They are maxing out on their daytime sleep or meeting their sleep durations.

Signs you should move bedtime earlier:
* Your child is taking short naps.
* They are not getting the recommended amount of daytime sleep.
* They are waking shortly after bedtime, upset.
* They are waking regularly before 6am.

The most obvious difference between the two is going to be your child’s temperament!
If you'd like help with your child’s daytime schedule, please snag one of my free Sleep Schedule Cheat Sheets. It will provide you with a breakdown of when your child should be napping and going to bed. It takes the guesswork out of sleep!
