Inside the Break made it to Hawaii 🌊🌺

I don’t think I could have asked for a better reading spot for our very first issue. 🥹

This photo was taken by Avery Cerniglia while reading Inside the Break in Hawaii, and seeing the magazine out in the world like this is still a little surreal to me.

And somehow, after 49 copies found their homes…

I think one of my favorite parts of this job will always be this part.

Printing everything out. Moving pieces around. Putting two things next to each other just to decide they absolutely do NOT belong next to each other 😂

Then finding the combination that makes the whole thing work perfectly.

There is so much that happens between receiving someone’s artwork and seeing it printed on the pages of a book or magazine.

And lately, there has been a LOT happening over here.

The Fall Issue is officially in the works, I’m deep into curating The Pool House, Chasing Summer voting opens next week, and there are a few other things I’ve been working on behind the scenes that I’m very excited about… 🤫

My desk is a disaster. My cork wall is full. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😂

Okay… there are officially only FIVE copies of Inside the Break left. 🥹

Our very first issue of The Green Room magazine featured artists from across the country, pages and pages of coastal artwork, photography, artist interviews, resources and a whole lot of summer.

I knew when I printed this first run that I wanted to keep it small. There were only 50 physical copies made, and now we’re down to the final five.

Which is honestly a little surreal considering this magazine was just an idea in my head a few months ago. 😂

I’m already deep into curating Issue No. 02, Gather, so it feels extra special seeing the first issue almost completely sold out.

If you’ve been meaning to grab a physical copy of Inside the Break, this is officially your last call. Once these five are gone, they’re gone. 🌊

Summer isn’t over until I say it’s over 😂⛱️

Which is slightly inconvenient considering I’m currently working on a FALL magazine issue lol.

But my brain is still very much here. Beach days, pool days, , bare feet, and squeezing every last bit out of summer before everyone starts trying to convince me it’s pumpkin season. 😂

Honestly, this is exactly where Inside the Break came from. I wanted our first magazine issue to feel like summer. Water, art, color, coastal living, and all the things I already love rolled into one publication.

And now it’s been so fun seeing so many people actually reading it, sharing it, and keeping it on their coffee tables. 🥹

So yes, I’m working on fall.

But I’ll be over here keeping summer around a little longer. 😂☀️🌊

Becoming an artist was never part of Vero Burans’ plan. Now, it’s how she makes her living.

Vero had followed the path laid out in front of her. She studied, built a career, and was following the life that made sense on paper.

But art kept calling her name.

Eventually, she stopped ignoring it.

What happened next is the part I love most: Vero didn’t just start painting. She built an entirely new life around it.

“I never imagined that one day I could actually make a living from it.”

Today, Vero is a full-time artist creating colorful, work inspired by nature, emotion, and the world around her.

Her story is about art, yes. But it’s also about that terrifying moment when you realize the life you’re supposed to want might not actually be the one you actually want.

And what can happen when you finally listen to yourself.

The Pool House has officially taken over my studio wall 😂🌴

I’ve been working through submissions and developing the direction of this book for the past few months, but I recently decided I needed to get everything off my computer and physically in front of me.

So I printed it ALL. And apparently needed an entire wall to do it 😂

Right now I’m working through the next stage of curation: figuring out how the artwork, interiors and photography work together, building out the chapters, and slowly starting to see the world of The Pool House come together.

There are still a LOT of decisions to make (and yes, somehow even more submissions waiting on my table 🫣), but seeing everything on my wall has me SO excited for this book.

The Pool House is coming in 2027 🏊‍♀️🌴🍸

Mom life, is better at the beach ☀️😂

I love this picture because at first it just looks like a beach shadow… and then you notice the tiny hand waving next to me 🥹

A little Saturday reminder that while I’m over here dreaming about our next beach day, I’m also getting ready to wrap up submissions for the fall issue!

Tomorrow is the LAST day to submit your artwork for Gather. Submissions officially close Sunday, August 9 at 11:59pm EST.

So if you’ve had a piece sitting in your camera roll that you keep thinking maybe I should submit this… this is me telling you: do it!! 😂🤍

P.S. I’m also working hard to get these Pool House submissions under wraps! If you submitted work to our upcoming coffee table book, I promise I didn’t forget about you! 😂 There were A LOT of submissions to go through, but I’m getting there!
