🤯 CONVENIR — a Spanish verb you’ll hear all the time!

CONVENIR = to be convenient / to suit you

👉 Me conviene trabajar desde casa.
= It works better for me to work from home.

👉 ¿Te conviene ese horario?
= Does that schedule work for you?

👉 No me conviene.
= That doesn’t work for me.

💡 Me conviene / te conviene / le conviene = something is convenient or beneficial for someone.

🤯 MI vs. ME — what’s the difference?

✨ MI = my
👉 Mi casa
👉 Mi perro
👉 Mi mamá

✨ ME = me / to me
👉 Me gusta.
👉 Me llamo Andrea.
👉 Me encanta el español.

💡

MI = possession
ME = the person receiving or experiencing the action

Easy to mix up, but they’re doing completely different jobs. 👀

🤯 HAY vs. HAY QUE — they're NOT the same!

✨ HAY = there is / there are
👉 Hay mucha gente aquí.
👉 Hay un problema.

✨ HAY QUE + infinitive = you have to / it's necessary to
👉 Hay que estudiar. = You have to study.
👉 Hay que irse. = We have to go.

💡 HAY = something exists
HAY QUE = something needs to be done

🤯 ACABAR DE — one of the easiest ways to talk about the recent past in Spanish!

✨ Acabo de llegar. = I just arrived.
✨ Acabo de comer. = I just ate.
✨ Acabamos de terminar. = We just finished.

💡 ACABAR DE + infinitive = to have just done something

And yes, you'll hear this ALL the time in everyday Spanish. 👀🇲🇽

🤯 APENAS doesn't always mean the same thing!

You can use apenas to say:

✨ Hace muy poco → Apenas llegué.
✨ Tan pronto como → Apenas llegue, te aviso.
✨ Casi no → Apenas comí.

Same word, 3 different meanings depending on the context. 👀

Spanish loves making one little word do a LOT of work 😂
