Isaiah 53:4-5 NASB
[4. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.]

​This whole passage is about someone taking a hit that was meant for us. If I'm wrong please teach me. ​In verse 4 it's saying He carried our pain, our grief, the things that mess us up. But while He was doing that, everyone looking at Him thought, "Man, God must be punishing that guy for something he did wrong." WE totally misread the situation. They thought He was getting what He deserved.
​Then verse 5 sets the record straight! He didn't get beat up because He messed up. He took the heat for ALL our bad calls, our mistakes, and our wrongdoings. He took the brutal punishment so we could actually be okay and have peace. His pain became our path to getting fixed and made whole.
