🫖Restaurant Sofiya brings the vibrant flavors of Central Asia to San Francisco! This family-run halal restaurant specializes in Uzbek, Tajik, Kyrgyz, and Kazakh cuisine, offering a taste of the region that’s sometimes hard to find in the Bay Area.

We visited on a warm night, and from the moment we stepped inside, the decor and hospitality transported us straight to the heart of Central Asia. I’ve only had Central Asian food a handful of times, but Sofiya is one that truly stands out.

🥘 We started with the Ajabsandali, a smoky vegetable stew is served cold and was the perfect way to begin the meal
🍜 The Uyghur Lagman featured hand-pulled noodles that soaked up every bit of flavor.
🥩 The Lamb Chops were incredibly tender and cooked to perfection
🍯 For dessert, don’t skip the signature Honey Cake and Strawberry Panna Cotta, which provided the perfect sweet ending.

If you’re looking for a restaurant in San Francisco that offers both an immersive cultural experience and unforgettable flavors, Restaurant Sofiya deserves a spot on your list.

Located in San Francisco’s Marina District, Kava Indian Cuisine is a new family-owned restaurant serving up North Indian, Nepalese, and Indo-Chinese comfort food. The menu features rich curries, freshly baked naan, and handcrafted Himalayan momos so you cannot go wrong!

We ordered :
🥦Jomsom Cauliflower
🍘Papadum
🥟Chicken Chilli momo
🍽️Lamb Choila
🍤Shrimp chow mein
🧊Tamarind cooler
🍯Honey Naan

Kava provided us with such a warm, welcoming dining experience and their food honestly felt like coming over to someone’s home.

🚂All Aboard! The next time you are in Napa, you need to check out one of my favorite Wine Country experiences: the Napa Valley Wine Train. We booked the three-hour Gourmet Express lunch and were welcomed aboard with a glass of sparkling wine at our seats.

This was actually my third time riding the Wine Train, and I still think it’s one of the best ways to experience Napa Valley. As the train rolls through vineyard-lined landscapes toward St. Helena, you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and leave the driving to someone else.

🍷For lunch, I ordered the loaded baked potato soup, and my friend and I shared the red wine-braised short ribs and grilled salmon. We also sampled a classic wine flight featuring a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Between courses, we explored the vintage train cars, visited the lounge areas, and spent some time in the outdoor caboose taking in the views.

🍰We finished the meal with chocolate lava cake and orange crème brûlée before settling back into our seats with a final glass of wine. Watching the vineyards and rolling hills pass by outside the window felt like the perfect Napa Valley afternoon!
