His cross-genre music features epic progressions, lush sound design, driving rhythms, and innovative melodic lines. Driving rhythms, cinematic melodies, and a vast palette of sonic textures define the music of SUBQUiRE, the latest evolution of Wayne Baker’s lifelong journey with sound. Having played piano since the age of seven, Baker now draws on three decades of musical experience to create musi

c that bridges emotion, experimentation, and thoughtful sound design. Spanning genres like ambient, IDM, glitch-hop, drum & bass, shoegaze, and experimental bass music, SUBQUiRE reflects Baker’s broad influences and passion for exploring sound. “Genres have always been tough for me—I’m influenced by so many types of music,” Baker explains. This openness drives his ability to craft music that resonates deeply with listeners. Wayne Baker’s artistry was first introduced to the world under the name Fidelium. As Fidelium, he gained recognition for his intricate compositions and innovative sound design. Early works like Believe Me This Is Home showcased a melodic IDM style influenced by artists like Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin. Fidelium’s sound expanded with God Tank, featured on the IDMf Netlabel’s Beyond The Silence And Story, and reached new heights with the critically acclaimed Diametry LP, a gapless sonic adventure that highlighted Baker’s skills in sound design and composition. In 2013, Baker revisited his earlier work for I’ll Be Famous When I’m Dead, reimagining tracks from 2003–2007 and releasing them alongside remix stems for collaboration. These releases established Fidelium as an artist willing to experiment and evolve, setting the stage for what would later become SUBQUiRE. As SUBQUiRE, Wayne Baker continues to push his creative boundaries. Recent works like Mute, the introspective World Theories, and the evocative dear city, showcase his ability to blend cinematic storytelling with intricate soundscapes. His upcoming drum & bass track, Webs & Flowers, promises to further explore rhythm and emotion, delivering a dynamic listening experience. Beyond his solo work, Baker is one-half of NOTICE, an EDM/trip-hop duo he co-founded with Quinn Zimmer in New Orleans. NOTICE combines soulful vocals, deep beats, synths, and guitars to create a unique and immersive sound. Wayne Baker’s impact on the electronic music community extends beyond his own releases. As co-founder of the IDMf Netlabel, now Glitch Pulse Records, he helped curate and release over 30 albums, fostering a global community of electronic music producers. His leadership in this role emphasized collaboration and experimentation, values he carries into his current work with Glitch Pulse Records. “I’ve been lucky to work with so many talented people and to learn from every step of the process,” Baker says. For Baker, music isn’t just a career—it’s a way of life. “I’m always in composition mode,” he says. Whether sketching ideas at the piano, experimenting in his studio, or collaborating with other artists, he finds joy in the endless possibilities of sound. SUBQUiRE and NOTICE are more than projects—they’re expressions of a lifelong passion for music’s ability to connect people, spark emotion, and inspire creativity. From his roots as Fidelium to his latest releases as SUBQUiRE, Wayne Baker’s work remains a testament to his dedication to sound and storytelling. Whether crafting ambient soundscapes, bass-heavy grooves, or introspective melodies, he invites listeners to join him on a journey that is as much about connection as it is about music.

An old track in sort of an chillout, EBM style featuring some of the drum and bass wizardry of Justin3am and myself on vocals.

"Where You Are" (New track)

https://subquire.com/blog/where-you-are/

i want to vault headfirst into the exhaust pipe of america,
grease-slick lungs coughing love songs through a cracked stereo—

windows down, soul peeled back like citrus,
screaming at cornfields and satellites,
begging the sky for a god who understands late-night highways.

your name is written in the vapor of every gas station bathroom mirror.
i whisper it into vending machines & wait for change.

i saw your face in the headlights once,
just a flicker—
a shape between the static of now and never,
caught in the wet blink of a thunderstorm.

there are no brakes in this poem,
only tire marks & cigarette burns on motel bibles,
only jazz-blasted detours & the holy tremble of distance collapsing—

the road is my blood stream
and you’re the pulse i keep chasing.

On Silliness & Producing (featuring my brosky Trent)... aka "see what happens Trent? this is what happens when you send me voice memos."

silliness. you gotta remember—you don’t always need to take yourself so damn seriously. we get so locked into making our kicks hit just right or making our wubs hella rumbly that we forget to laugh, to mess around, to smell the farts with the roses. seriously. sometimes you just gotta play. make...

To all Musicians, Producers, and Label Owners in my network:

I’ve been given an offer code to pass along that gets you one FREE month of Artist Pro on SoundCloud. Whether you're looking to sign up or upgrade, the link below gives you a full month of the perks SoundCloud has to offer.

I’ve personally been using Artist Pro to distribute SUBQUiRE’s entire catalog across all streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc.), and honestly, it’s been a much smoother ride than what I experienced with Tunecore or CDBaby. The ability to monetize your tracks, get in-depth insights about your listeners, and even access their AI mastering tool (which is handy for quick radio-ready touch-ups) has made the process way more streamlined.

Quick note: I don’t work for SoundCloud, and I’m not necessarily getting paid to hype them. I’ve just been a member for 16 years and have seen the company evolve a lot. Their subscription is around $15/month and, compared to CD Baby or Tunecore's per-release fees, it can be WAY more affordable—especially if you're regularly dropping singles, EPs, or albums. As far as I know, there's no cap on how many releases you can distribute each month.

Full disclosure: if you do end up sticking around after the free month and become a paid subscriber, I get a $15 referral bonus. But I genuinely don’t care much about that—I just wanted to share my honest experience, because their customer service and overall platform have been a breath of fresh air compared to others I’ve used. It’s not perfect, but if you’re a prolific artist looking to release often, it might be worth checking out.

Here’s the link to get your free month:

Cheers,
Wayne

Want a win-win? Use my code for a free month of SoundCloud Artist Pro and we both get rewarded.

FEAR NOT (Released March 18, 2025) Well, I finally decided to put it out, as a single. There are more tracks from this project (titled “Everything Is Falling Apart”), and I’ll eventually meld them all together into one. Eventually. Let’s call it an “album in progress”. It’s nice to put...
