kitchen backsplash tile reveal!!!

after ordering 10+ tile samples, i’m so happy with how it turned out! it was the most difficult kitchen decision i made 😅 but i love the handmade look without the zellige tile price. the color variation is soo good in person too 😍

everything i brought on the plane to entertain my 21 month old & how i would rank them:

1. airplane books - 2/10
i pulled these out briefly on the plane and my daughter just wasn’t interested in books with so much going on, but i would rate them 8/10 off the plane!

2. sticker book - 7/10
kept her entertained for awhile, but she did eventually get bored. the stickers are actually not reusable but still a fun sticker book.

3. water coloring books - 2/10
seems like she’s just losing interest in these in general so not really worth bringing unless your toddler has never seen them before.

4. wallet/key/phone set - 8/10
my daughter loved holding the phone and was entertained with the fake credit cards and wallet for awhile. she has better key toys than these, but overall great option.

5. LCD drawing pad - 5/10
my daughter got weirdly possessive of this toy on the plane ride there which caused drama lol and she started getting over it by the end of the trip so didn’t keep her interested that long on the ride back. i was surprised that she didn’t like this one more!

6. toddler plane seat extender - 10/10
this was actually a 2/10 on the plane ride there because the airline didn’t allow us to book them on the seat so it was basically just a seat cover and my daughter only napped for 30 min. it was allowed on our way back (diff airline) and it was great because she slept 1.5 hrs!

7. snack hiding tray - 9/10
this kept her entertained for awhile and she loved it, but the buttons were a little hard for her to push so she needed help and then she thought the snacks would magically refill lol.

8. portable dvd player - 6/10
kept her entertained for about 30 min both ways so not bad. ended up having her watch a show on my husband’s laptop for a bit too.

9. toddler headphones - 9/10
not shown in the video, but loved the ones we got! they were affordable, cute, and didn’t move around too much.

mom hack of the day: to get your baby into reading, don’t actually read the words to them đŸ€Ł

long story short, instead of trying to read all the words on each page — point out objects, animals, colors, etc. ask questions like “do you see the butterfly?” or you can even make up your own story using words your baby or toddler is already familiar with.

don’t get discouraged if your 1yo doesn’t want to sit through all the words on each page. that’s totally normal and they’re just not ready for that yet!

the point is to get them interested in looking at the book in the first place. eventually, their attention span will get longer and you can add in the actual words on the pages.

this is just what’s worked for us and my daughter has always loved books! drop any other tips you have below!

third & final paci weaning update!! i actually filmed this a few days ago but just got around to uploading
 Elena is sleeping through the night (if i don’t jinx it rn), she is still waking up 30-45 min earlier in the morning but i’m just rolling with it, and i’m pretty sure she’s totally forgotten about her paci at this point. still hoping to be able to put her in her crib and walk out of the room at some point, but she’s going through a little bit of separation anxiety from me & i honestly can’t complain! đŸ«Ł

paci weaning, night five!!! honestly has not been as scary as i thought and i’m glad we’re doing it now before Elena has more of an awareness as to what has been going on. the early morning wake ups were rough but could be worse so i’m really not complaining. this whole sleep thing is truly never ending with little ones 😅
