ADOPT Espi!
This 4.5 month old cutie is seriously just as cute as can be! She’s super social, very outgoing and just a silly bug. She’s great with other dogs and would truly love a home with another playful doggy friend. She’s also great with kids and already doing well with potty and crate training. In the summer of 2025, a small rescue shelter in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley welcomed two Giant Schnauzer puppies who had been discovered huddled together beneath an abandoned porch.

One was a gentle little girl with soft, intelligent eyes and oversized paws. The shelter named her Honey.
The other was a spirited young Giant Schnauzer with alert ears and a wiry coat. She was called Luna.

When animal control found them, the two pups were trembling silently, pressed tightly against each other. One rescuer later said it seemed less like two dogs and more like “a single heartbeat trying to survive.”

At intake, the shelter had to briefly separate them for medical exams. Almost immediately, both pups shut down.

Honey refused food, sitting frozen at the front of her kennel, her eyes locked on Luna. She didn’t bark. She didn’t whine. She just waited.

Luna mirrored her exactly. Whenever Honey shifted, Luna lifted her head. When Luna whimpered, Honey pressed closer to the divider.

The staff quickly realized this was more than companionship—they depended on each other emotionally.

So they reunited them.

The moment Honey and Luna were together again, Honey pressed herself against Luna’s chest and let out a long, relieved sigh. A volunteer whispered, “It’s like she can finally breathe.” From that day, they were officially a bonded pair.

But bonded pairs are difficult to adopt. Most families wanted just one dog. Weeks passed with visitors stopping at their kennel:

“Oh my gosh, they’re adorable.”
“We wish we could take both.”
“But we only have space for one.”

Then one family fell in love with Luna. They promised her soft blankets, toys, a fenced yard, and children who adored her. The shelter begged them to consider Honey too—but their housing policy allowed only one dog.

So Luna went home.

Honey, left behind, refused food again. Day after day, she walked to the front of Kennel 9, pressed her face against the metal bars, and waited.

Meanwhile, twenty miles away, Luna

🚨 From Stray Hold to Safe 🚨

Little Richie’s story started in a shelter kennel after being picked up as a stray. No one came looking for him. He completed his stray hold quietly, curled up in his crate, probably wondering what happened and where his people went.

But that chapter is over now. ❤️

This scruffy little guy is officially safe with Dallas DogRRR and settling into foster care. And honestly? He already looks relieved knowing somebody finally showed up for him.

🐾 2–3 years old
🐾 Approximately 15–20 lbs
🐾 Schnauzer/Havanese mix… maybe with a sprinkle of “distinguished little gremlin”
🐾 Expert-level side eye
🐾 Certified scruffy gentleman

We don’t know his full story yet, but we do know he deserves better days ahead filled with soft blankets, snacks, patience, and people who won’t leave him behind.

Thank you to everyone who helps us say yes to dogs like Richie. Rescue is expensive, messy, emotional, exhausting… and completely worth it.

Donations toward Little Richie’s care are always appreciated:
