Federal antitrust enforcers on Friday cleared Paramount Skydance's $110 billion deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.

In a statement, the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division said it had closed its probe of the acquisition after determining that the transaction "is not likely to result in harm to competition or American consumers."

The Justice Department's decision to close its investigation into the deal removes a major obstacle to Paramount Skydance, the parent company of CBS News, in its acquisition of Warner Bros. The transaction still faces potential legal hurdles from multiple state attorneys general who have threatened to challenge the deal: https://www.cbsnews.com/sacramento/news/paramount-skydance-warner-bros-discovery-antitrust-justice-department/

Here’s what you need to know about the massive medical supply warehouse fire in Northern California.

The giant blaze completely destroyed a 1-million-square-foot Medline Industries facility in Tracy, CA, on Thursday. While there is no ongoing threat to the public, Tracy Fire Chief Randall Bradley said it could take days for crews to fully extinguish the fire, which is expected to disrupt the delivery of essential medical supplies on the West Coast.

Fire crews are working to safely give drivers access to medical supplies that weren’t damaged in a massive Tracy, California, medical warehouse that went up in flames Thursday and is expected to continue burning for several days.

South San Joaquin County Fire Authority Deputy Chief Brian Bagley says the massive blaze at the 1-million-square-foot Medline Industries warehouse, which is the largest provider of medical and surgical products on the West Coast, will likely affect commerce throughout the United States.

Officials said Friday that crews were working on a plan to move medical supplies loaded onto trucks that were not damaged by the fire so they could be sent to hospitals: https://www.cbsnews.com/sacramento/news/tracy-promontory-parkway-warehouse-fire/

Elon Musk has become the first person to cross the trillionaire threshold, at least on paper, after SpaceX priced its blockbuster initial public offering at $135 a share and its stock soared in its stock market debut.

Before the IPO, Musk was worth an estimated $813 billion, a fortune more than twice as large as the planet's second-richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, who is worth an estimated $288 billion, according to Forbes.

While billionaire wealth alone may be hard enough to comprehend, a trillionaire represents a level of wealth that rivals the economic output of the world's biggest nations: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-spacex-ipo-trillionaire-wealth/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1h

Oakland is rolling out a major new strategy to confront one of its most persistent quality-of-life problems - illegal dumping - backed by a record-breaking $9.3 million investment from a private foundation.

City leaders say the funding from philanthropic foundation Crankstart will help expand enforcement tools, including surveillance cameras and drone operations, while also boosting outreach to residents about legal ways to dispose of bulky waste. But critics argue the city's first priority should be removing barriers that make it difficult for people to get rid of large items legally: https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/oakland-illegal-dumping-funding-disposal-options/
