A bill from two Bay Area lawmakers that would ban law enforcement from covering their faces during operations is heading to the governor's desk.

If signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, Senate Bill 627, known as the No Secret Police Act, would apply to California local and federal officers, and other officers from another state agency.

BART POLICE SETTLEMENT

The transit agency has agreeed to a settlement with a woman who was shot by an officer during an incident in a parking lot last year.

Bay Area Rapid Transit will pay $6.75 million to a woman who was shot by a BART police officer last year at the Union City station as part of a lawsuit settlement, the agency said Friday.

Law enforcement officials on Friday announced the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson for the shooting death of Charlie Kirk.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said authorities believe that Robinson acted alone and said there is no information currently that would lead to additional arrests.

Kirk, a conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, died Wednesday after he was shot at an event at Utah Valley University.
