I was serving dinner and mentioned that the table felt a little low. My waist was starting to feel it.

Then I looked down and wondered out loud,
“Is this really the highest ?”

Someone nearby heard me and immediately offered to adjust it.

while I kept serving, he started raising the table for me.

and when I realized it actually went higher… I got a little too excited 😂

It was such a small thing.

but sometimes care looks exactly like this.

No big gesture.
No recognition needed.

Just someone noticing a small way they can make things a little easier for another person…

and doing it. 🤍

Last time I saw him, I gave him food.

This time, he came back with something in his hand.

“Here’s from me to you.”’

It was a piece of dark chocolate.

then he said,
“My mom’s favorite.”

Then he told me he hadn’t had food for two days.

And suddenly, the chocolate felt different.

Because sometimes what someone gives us carries more than the thing itself.

A memory.
Someone they love.
A piece of home.
A way of saying, I remember you too.

We can look at someone and only notice what they might need.

But every person standing in front of us is still carrying a whole life inside them.

He wasn’t only receiving that night.

He came back wanting to give something too.

before he left, he asked,
“When can I see you next time?”

I told him,
“Fate. We will see again.” 🤍

Sometimes what feels small to us
can mean so much to someone else.

It was just a chicken sandwich.

But hearing, “oh my Lord… are you serious right now? ”made me realize how something so ordinary can become a moment of joy.

Sometimes the smallest things reach the deepest places. 🤍

He took the plate from my hand.

At first, all I could hear myself say was,
“He’s hungry .”

but that wasn’t the part that hurt me.

What hurt me was wondering if, somewhere in all that noise and pressure, he stopped feeling safe enough to believe the food would still be there for him.

I had already told him there was enough.
I had already told him I would serve him.

and for a moment, he seemed to understand.

But sometimes knowing something is true
and feeling safe enough to trust it
are two different things.

maybe I’ll never know what was happening inside him.

but I keep thinking about how many people learn over time, that if they don’t take what they need now,
it might not still be there later.

Sometimes survival doesn’t look patient.
Sometimes it looks like grabbing before something disappears.

and maybe compassion begins when we can see the behavior
without forgetting the fear that may be underneath it. 🤍

Sometimes receiving can make us want to give something back.

I had just given her food when she came back and said, “Crystal would like a word with me .“

I honestly thought Crystal was a person.

It took me a moment to understand what she was offering.

I couldn’t accept it,but I couldn’t help wondering if, in her own way, she was trying to return the kindness.

maybe that’s what stayed with me.

even when someone is receiving help,
they can still want the chance to give something back.

And sometimes kindness also means knowing when to say,
“ It’s okay. I’m good, thank you.” 🤍

Sometimes care shows up in the smallest ways.

She thought he was taking something without asking,
so she spoke up for me.

but he had asked.

She was looking out for me.
And in that same moment, I could look out for him too.

Maybe sometimes kindness is simply making sure
no one is misunderstood. 🤍

Sometimes the people we’re there to give to
end up giving something back without even knowing it.

I told him his smile makes me happy.
Maybe he’ll never know how much I meant it. 🤍

She almost didn’t tell me it was her birthday.

Just as I was finishing her tacos, she quietly said she had been thinking they might run out just before she got there.

then she said,
“normally I wouldn’t say that.”

I remembered I still had some chocolate cake.

so before she left, she got a little birthday cake too.🤍

Sometimes the smallest moments find us at just the right time.

maybe we don’t always need something big.
sometimes we just need to feel remembered. 🤍

Sometimes the smallest question
can mean more than we realize.

She came for a meal.

Before she left, I asked if she needed dog food too.

The way she held it up and said,
“oh, thank you… ‘”🤍

reminded me that care isn’t always something big.

Sometimes it’s simply noticing
what someone else is carrying besides their
own hunger.

and maybe that’s something we all
need sometimes…
to be noticed without having to ask. 🤍

Someone thought I was taking too long.

then someone else spoke up.

“she don’t even have to do this though.”

Sometimes we’re so quick to notice when someone is moving too slowly…
and we forget we don’t know what they’re carrying, how hard they’re trying,or what it took for them to simply show up that day.

Maybe we all need a little more grace than we know how to ask for.

And sometimes, it only takes one person to remind us. 🤍
