Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks Hosting Town Hall With Ann O’Leary, Chief of Staff to Governor Gavin Newsom

Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland) will host an evening Town Hall with Ann O’Leary, Chief of Staff to Governor Gavin Newsom, on Monday, August
12th in Berkeley.

They will discuss the recently passed state budget and Governor Newsom’s “California for All” agenda. Asm. Wicks and Ann O’Leary will also share insights into what they’ve learned in their first six months in their respective positions in Sacramento.

The Town Hall will take place at the Berkeley City College Auditorium with 150 guests expected to attend. Doors open at 6:00 pm, with the discussion at 6:30 pm and ending
at 8:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Assemblymember Buffy Wicks represents California’s 15th Assembly District, which includes all or portions of the cities of Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, Emeryville, Albany, El Cerrito, San Pablo, Pinole, El Sobrante, Hercules, Kensington, and Piedmont.

Ann O’Leary serves as Chief of Staff for California Governor Gavin Newsom. She was appointed to the position in November 2018, having previously served as a Senior Policy
Advisor to Hillary Clinton.

Humane Society Silicon Valley needs support! They are behind the City of Sacramento for a finalist spot in the 2019 Innovation Showdown and need votes from the public! If HSSV receives the most votes, they will have the chance to pitch their proposed mobile application, Foster Faster, to a team of investors. These investors will be awarding a total of $450,000 in funding. Cinequest 2019 occurs March 5th to March 17th in San Jose and Redwood City (Silicon Valley) where it will showcase the work of artists from 56 countries, including 132 World and U.S. premiere films and virtual reality. One hundred works at Cinequest have been directed by women. Fifty-four celebrations, performances, and special events round out the offerings— amounting to 531 screenings, events, parties and experiences. Cinequest expects over 110,000 participants.

These are a few of the homeowners and nonprofits to receive help, local recipients of service include:

1. Via Service - Via West has been helping individuals 0 - 95 with disabilities and special needs since 1945. Amazon will be repairing their campground so these children will be able to come to their camp and experience activities and learn independent living skills. *13851 Stevens Canyon Road. 2. Arcele, an 86 year old widow of a Marine Corps veteran, will be receiving much-needed repairs from HGA Architects. *3300 Narvaez Ave. #66 San Jose, 95136

3. Silicon Valley Rotary Clubs will join forces to repair 6 homes.

a. Rotary Club of Gilroy will be repairing 2 homes. * 8282 Murray Ave. #16 Gilroy 95020 and 8282 Murray Ave. #63 Gilroy 95020

b. Morgan Hill Rotary will be repairing 1 home at * 275 Burnett Ave #104 Morgan Hill 95037

c. Rotary Club of Los Gatos will be repairing 1 home at * 1741 Galewood Ct. San Jose 95133

d. Rotary Club of Cupertino will be repairing 1 home at * 2415 Lascar Place San Jose, 95136

e. Rotary Club of San Jose and Rotary Club of Santa Clara will be repairing*2716 King Rd. San Jose 95122

The Santa Clara Valley Water District is dedicated to taking good care of its infrastructure and keeping your water safe and reliable now and in the future.

Join us on Saturday, June 16 to see some of our modernization work in progress at a free open house at the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant.

Come and learn about our water treatment plant operations and how the improvements we’re making through the Reliability Improvement Project will ensure our water supply meets future needs. There will be tours, information about water quality, groundwater, purified water, our Adopt-A-Creek program and participate in interactive exhibits for all ages. Plant tours will take place at designated times throughout the day, but please RSVP to reserve your spot on a tour.
