Thank you all for your patience as we've been working towards a fantastic reprint of Solar Titans and its new content. We are now close to launching our re-print Kickstarter campaign after finalizing our list of new content and art design / direction, and we'll share more updates in the coming weeks.
To give some background on the delay, we tested the new player boards and ultimately decided it didn't bring the right kind of experience for players. It introduced new mechanics and components, but didn't fundamentally make the game fresh and exciting enough. So we went back to the drawing board, and after extensive testing we landed on something that we really enjoyed and felt like the Solar Titans we knew and loved, but better - and we are now excited to reveal!
The new mini expansion content will now consist of 16 new market cards that integrate directly into the market deck. The market deck itself will be re-balanced to have 80 cards (from 76), meaning some existing cards with multiple copies will have their counts reduced. There are three big reasons why we took this approach:
1. New gameplay dimensions without needing new components. We wanted players to experience the same streamlined design and ease of setup that Solar Titans is known for. The new market cards seamlessly integrate into existing gameplay, yet they bring whole new dimensions to ship design and combat strategy. We will reveal more soon, but the new cards are really fun and make your decisions about ship layout and picking your targets even more compelling.
2. A rich, varied market with 30% more unique cards. The new cards introduce a total of 9 unique ship and crew card types to the market, bringing the total of unique market card types to 38 (from 29). This means there will be more variety in the market row and increased replayability. At the same time, we took the opportunity to re-balance the market so that it would not become bloated and reduced the frequency of certain cards to allow for more variety.
3. New cards are bolder, but not overpowered. We carefully designed the new cards to be interesting and unique, and not just more powerful versions of the type of cards that already exist in Solar Titans. None of the cards are high cost cards, but they have contextual effects or trade-offs to consider. As a result, you can expect the new cards to get used frequently and see a lot of action!
